Patricia Jarrell Obituary

Patricia (Patti) Ann Mickey Hoffner Jarrell, 80, passed away on Tuesday June 10, 2025 at her home in Lewisville, TX.

Born January 14, 1945 she was the youngest of three daughters born to the late Floyd Leroy Mickey and Mabel Ann Rhodes Mickey of Salisbury, NC. She was preceded in death by her eldest sister Jacqueline Nolen and is survived by her sister Brenda Bernhardt of Salisbury.

Patti grew up in Salisbury where she graduated Boyden High School and Catawba College. She was employed over the course of her life with the American Heart Association, Nello L.Teer Company and from 1971 to 2001 with Verizon/GTE. It was a transfer with GTE that took her to reside in Texas where she grew to be an avid Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers fan. From late 2005 into 2006, Patti worked with FEMA, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, speaking and listening compassionately to victims in need while compiling information for the processing of applications and providing information regarding resources and other assistance. She served one tour in the US Army Reserve. Over the years, Patti was able to make trips to the United Kingdom and Italy where she particularly enjoyed her time in Scotland and while in Italy visiting the Vatican, Pompeii and the Colosseum. She had a secret hankerin' to be an archeologist.

Patti is survived by her three children Joshua Rhodes of Timberlake, NC, Amy Hoffner of Lewisville, TX and Emily Hoffner (Grayland McConnell) of Oxford, NC along with her beloved grandson Jaxson McConnell of Oxford.

Through the years Patti's love for animals led her to rescue many of her beloved dogs from local shelters. In celebration of Patti's life and love for animals, please consider supporting Operation Kindness, Carrollton, Texas 75006. https://www.operationkindness.org/make-a-memorial-gift/
