Patrick Hollowell Obituary

In loving memory of Patrick Hollowell, born August 16. 1957 to Elizabeth and Ray Sr. Hollowell who passed peacefully into glory on August 26, 2026.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Elizabeth Hollowell; his brother, Ray Hollowell Jr.; his wife, Nuris Hollowell; along with nieces, stepchildren, and grandchildren who will forever cherish his memory.

Patrick's love for the audio-visual arts began in high school. That early passion grew into a lifelong career, first supporting local bands and theatre groups, then producing his first independent show, Dancefest '84, a benefit for the Special Olympics.

From there, Patrick's career flourished. After starting with Belk Stores, he founded his first company, Consolidated Technologies (“ConTech”), which became a leading live-event production company in Charlotte. Through ConTech, Patrick played a role in some of the city's biggest events, including the grand openings of The Coliseum, Panther Stadium, The Convention Center, and The Speedway Club, as well as NCAA's Street of Champions, the NBA All-Star Game, and events featuring Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush.

In 1998, Patrick expanded into video production, launching Paradigm Communications Group. He directed and supported productions for the MLS, ACC, and PGA Tour, including The Wachovia Championship. He also oversaw video operations for The Blockbuster Pavilion, working with artists such as Sting and Alanis Morissette.

The City of Charlotte frequently entrusted Patrick with milestone projects, including the Downtown Millennium celebration, the September 11 Commemoration, and the groundbreaking of the Bobcat Arena. One of his most memorable productions was a live “Millionaire-style” event for Food Lion Speed Street featuring Regis Philbin.

Patrick loved his work and inspired those around him with his dedication and vision. He often said, “Anyone can bring the gear to the table, but the commitment to do whatever it takes to exceed expectations and make it personal is what makes the difference. Don't say you care unless you're prepared to back it up.”

While his professional achievements were many, Patrick's heart was with his family. He was a devoted son, continuously visiting and caring for his beloved mother, Elizabeth Hollowell, who at 103 years old survives him today. In 2014, he married the love of his life, Nuris and through that union embraced three children and five grandchildren, who brought him great joy.

Patrick's creativity, generosity, and love of work and family touched countless lives. He will be remembered not only for the events he brought to life, but also for his kindness, loyalty, and the deep care he showed to those closest to him.
