Pauline Bean Obituary

Pauline 'Polly ' Bean HICKORY - Pauline Jarrett Bean, "Polly," went to be with her Lord on Monday, Jan. 9, 2006. She was 85 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart, Owen Duke Bean; parents Lindsey Jay and Blanche Barringer Jarrett; and brother Jay David Jarrett. Mrs. Bean was a long-time resident of Hickory. Polly and Owen both graduated from Catawba College. Mrs. Bean was a homemaker, a skilled seamstress, a dedicated wife and mother, a loyal friend and a volunteer. Above all else, she enjoyed being outside and being with friends and family. Mrs. Bean leaves behind to miss and remember her, her daughter, Rhonda and husband Mark Sechrest; grandson Dustin Sechrest; brother Bill Jarrett and wife Evelyn of Salisbury; brother Jim Jarrett and wife Donna of Newton; aunt Lillian Moretz of Conover; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Service and visitation : A funeral service will be held in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Chapel in Hickory at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will gather with family and friends in the Saints ' Hall Atrium of Holy Trinity prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Salisbury at 2 p.m. Memorials : In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Wake Forest University Health Sciences Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC 27157; or a favorite charity. Summersett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Special thanks go to Mrs. Alpha Sands of Wytheville, Va., who saw Polly through her last months with comfort, respect, dignity and love.
