Pauline Jacobs Obituary

Pauline 'Polly' Jacobs

SALISBURY - Pauline (Polly) Cregger Jacobs, age 86, of Salisbury, passed peacefully into God's hands on Jan. 10, 2012, at Genesis Eldercare after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Mrs. Jacobs was born May 15, 1925, in Saltville, Va., to the late James M. and Mable Cumbo Cregger. She graduated from Saltville High School, where she was a star basketball player. She earned her RN degree from Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Nursing was her passion and she enjoyed many years of nursing at Rowan Memorial Hospital, the VA Medical Center and for Dr. Kyle Black.

Polly was married for over 50 years to the love of her life, James L. (Jake) Jacobs, who died on Oct. 27, 2004.

As long as she was able, she was an active member of Landmark Church and was formerly an active member of Park Avenue Methodist Church.

Surviving are her sister-in-law and caregiver, Yvonne Potts Cregger; several nieces and nephews; and her longtime, faithful friend, Peggy Cress.

She was preceded in death by brothers James, Fred and Garland Cregger; and sisters Thelma Williams, Lucille Cheek and Dorothy White.

Service and Visitation: Memorial services will be held at the mausoleum at Rowan Memorial Park Friday, Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. conducted by pastor Mike Robinson of Landmark Church. Visitation will follow the memorial service.

Memorials: May be made to donor's choice.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at Genesis Healthcare for their friendliness and kindness toward Polly.
