Robert Richard "Bob" McAuliffe Jr.

Robert Richard McAuliffe, Jr. (Bob) died September 21, 2025, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.

Bob was preceded in death by parents, Robert Richard McAuliffe, Sr and Regina Carney McAuliffe, as well as his brother, Daniel Edward McAuliffe.

He is survived by nephews, Nicholas Edward McAuliffe (Candice) of Manchester, ME and Brendan Daniel McAuliffe of Seattle, WA, step-daughters, Angela Starnes Gallimore (Danny) of Rockwell, NC and Amy Ruth Starnes of Mocksville, NC.

Also left to cherish his memory are his McAuliffe, Carney, and Hoffman families.

Bob served in the US Army which included a deployment to Vietnam. He was a former Vice President of Real Estate for Food Lion.

In his younger days he was an avid sailor and loved skiing, as well as fishing trips to the Outer Banks. More recently he enjoyed tinkering in his workshop. Bob was an in-home support for his special needs step-grandson, Zachery R. Hartford. Bob will be remembered most for his ever present sense of humor and his “never met a stranger” personality.

The family wishes to express appreciation of the Nurses and CNAs of 4 East Unit at Novant Rowan Medical Center as well as Charge Nurses, Respiratory Care, Critical Care, Kidney Specialist, Patient Advocates and Tammy Harris, RN, Patient Flow Coordinator in the ED, and all staff of Wallace Cancer Institute.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 26, at Christiana Lutheran Church, 6190 US 52 Highway, Salisbury, NC 28146.
