Ruby Adams Herron

EASLEY, S.C. - Ruby York Adams Herron, 91, of Easley, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at her daughter's home in China Grove, N.C.

She was born Dec. 16, 1920, in White County, Ga., the daughter of the late Dilmous Daniel York and Maggie Irene Chastain York.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Willie Thomas Fields, Marell Hicks and Ethelene Lindsey; and three brothers, Clifford, Williard and Hubert York.

Ruby loved Georgia where she spent most of her adult life. She was employed with Habersham Mills most of her career. Later, she retired from Woodside Easley Plant, Easley.

Her children loved her for her kind loving ways. She loved working in her small garden, watching hummingbirds and hanging out clothes on the clothesline. Her life was simple and full of many laughs and memories.

She is survived by her husband, James F. Herron; two daughters, Barbara Adams Black (Tommy) of China Grove, Sue Adams Black (Norman) of Mooresville; her brothers, Cline York of Lonoke, Ark., and Loy York of Cleveland, Ga.; her sister, Christine York of Landis; five grandchildren: Tonia Black-Gold, Jeff Black, Paige Black Bostic, Kelly Black Johnson and Kim Black Wilson; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, especially Sharon Holt and Tiffany Perry, for their loving care and support; also to Michelle Cook of Home Instead. Our family will never forget the care you gave our Mom during this challenging and rewarding time. God bless you all.

Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm. Friday, Jan. 27 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, officiated by Rev. Glynn Weatherby. Burial will be private at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Whitley's.
