Samuel Berrier Obituary
MOCKSVILLE - Samuel Paul Berrier, 87, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem courageously fighting his battle with cancer. Before living his last two years at Somerset Court, Mocksville, he resided at 801 S. Mocksville.
Sam was born Nov. 17, 1919, in Davie County to the late Issac Clinton and Annie Cope Berrier and lived in the Deadmon Road community. He was a lifetime member of Concord United Methodist Church.
Sam was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the 68th Armored Regiment, D Co. in Germany. In 1981, he retired as manager of Energy United after 30 years of service. Sam received a Veteran's Emblem Certificate this year, recognizing his 50 years as a Master Mason of the Mocksville Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Nell Sheek, in 1991; sisters Rachel, Dorothy, Ruth, Alice, Katherine and Willie Mae; and brothers Herman, Felix, Greene, Cecil and Ben.
Surviving are daughters Kathy (Bill) Junker and Renee (James) Nail, all of Mocks-ville; grandchildren Will (Deitre) Junker and Clint (Katy) Junker, all of Mocksville, Charlotte (Greg) Williams of Eagle Springs, Ellen (Michael) McDaniel of Arcadia, Alex Nail of Winston-Salem, and Steven (Emily) Nail of Huntersville; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Betsy Nichols of Florida; brother James (Zee) Berrier of Mocks-ville; and sister-in-law Mary Frances Berrier of Mocks-ville. Also very close to him was nephew John Peeler and family Becky, Jerrin, Carly, Becka and Holden.
Services: A funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Arnold P. Gosnell and nephew Mr. Ivan Crissman officiating. A graveside service will follow at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the 11th District Memorial Honor Guard.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. today at Eaton Funeral Home.

I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I hope you all find comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and is with God.
I can remember when I was a little girl, I would go to "Uncle Sam's" to swing in his hammock and eat ice cream bars or chilly willies. All the children in the "Crotts" neighborhood went to visit with Sam and eat ice cream.
