Sarah Norris Headinger

SALISBURY - Sarah Norris Headinger, 84, of Salisbury, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at Virginia Casey Alzheimer's Unit of Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

Born July 7, 1923, in Spencer, Mrs. Headinger was the daughter of the late Claude and Minnie Bost Norris. She was educated in the Spencer schools and graduated from Spencer High School.

Mrs. Headinger was a homemaker and had worked as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of Wittenburg Lutheran Church and the N.C. Lutheran Church Women, where she served as an officer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Headinger, Jr., on January 16, 2005.

Survivors include her son, Mark H. Headinger, Ph.D, ChE and wife Sherry L. of Midlothian, Va.; grandchildren Grace Lynn Headinger and Michael Henry Headinger of Midlothian, Va.; sister-in-law Naomi Headinger of Spencer; niece Sue Carol McAdams-Bentz of Porterville, Calif.; and nephew Jimmy McAdams of Jacksonville, Fla.

Service: Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rowan Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Cogan, pastor of Wittenburg Lutheran Church, officiating.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 tonight at Summersett Funeral Home.
