Naomi Edna Headinger

Naomi Edna Headinger, 102, of Spencer, died Monday, August 21, 2023, at Laurels of Salisbury. Born June 12, 1921, in Spencer, Mrs. Headinger was the daughter of the late Henry A. Headinger, Sr. and Mary J. Long Headinger. She was educated in the Spencer schools, graduated from Spencer High School in 1937, and attended Mars Hill College – University (1937- 1939). Mrs. Headinger was retired from North Carolina Finishing Co. (1985), where she had worked as a clerk for orders since 1940. She was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church – Spencer, and the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as an officer with the Spencer Lodge. Naomi enjoyed Eastern Star events and her extensive doll collection. Survivors include her nephew, Mark H. Headinger, PhD-ChE and wife Patricia of Midlothian, Va., and their children Grace L. Headinger (Boston, MA), Michael H. Headinger (Richmond, Va.), Liz & Billy Rouse (Rockledge, FL) and Amanda DuBour (Mechanicsville, Va). Service: Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday (25-Aug) at Rowan Memorial Park with the Rev. Jonathan Collins, pastor of Oakdale Baptist Church, officiating. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6—7 pm Thursday at Summersett Funeral Home. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.
