Sidney Frances Moon

KANNAPOLIS - Miss Sidney Frances Moon, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House where she had lived briefly until her death.

Born in Madison County, Ga., on April 24, 1918, she was one of six children born to the late Charles Gilliam Moon and Woodie Meadows Hunt Moon.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nell Bost Moon of Salisbury. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and their spouses: Carl and Betty Moon Coone, Mooresville, Billy and Phyllis Moon, Chesapeake, Va., Janet Wright, Kannapolis, Bob and Brenda Wright Farris, Kannapolis, Kenneth and Rita Wright, Bessemer City, Regina Wright Duncan, Concord, Cy and Patty Wright Wentworth, Columbia, S.C., Nolan and Carolyn Moon Heilig, China Grove, Charles and Wilda Moon, Summerfield, Herman Moon, Ephrata, Pa., Gerald and Elizabeth Moon, Lugoff, S.C., Barry and Debbie Moon, Thomasville, Boyd and Peggy Moon, Salisbury, Doug and Teresa Moon Poole, Salisbury, David and Vivian Streater, Morganton; and 37 grandnieces and grandnephews combined.

Frances was preceded in death by her brother and his wife, Sam and Lorene Moon; her brother, C.W. Moon; her sister, Lillie Pope Moon; her sister and husband Margaret Ann Moon Wright and Robert; her sister and husband Laura Belle Moon Streater and Tracey.

Frances graduated from Madison county High School in 1936 and received a business certificate from King's Business College in Charlotte. She was employed in the sheet and washcloth department at Cannon Mills from age 20 until her retirement at age 65.

Frances was a faithful and active member of Jackson Park Baptist Church. She was a dedicated friend and sister who spent much of her retirement helping others.

Service and Visitation: Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 8 at Whitley's Annex Chapel with burial following at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Main Chapel Thursday, March 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. At other times, they will be at the home of her niece, Brenda Farris at 310 Walker St., Kannapolis.
