Steven Furr Obituary

Steven Ray Furr SALISBURY - Steven Ray Furr, 56, of Salisbury, died Friday (Aug. 12, 2005) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after a period of declining health. Born April 6, 1949, in Rowan County, Mr. Furr was a son of Ruth Watkins Furr of Salisbury and the late Hoyle J. Furr. He was a graduate of Boyden High School, where he was a standout football player. He also attended Davidson Community College and East Carolina University. Mr. Furr worked for Bost Reality and was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast. He was a member of Neel Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Constance Furr, in October 2003. Survivors include special friend Libby Brown of Concord; stepson Joshua Davis of Raleigh; daughters Ashley F. Maddox and husband Chris of Greenville, S.C., and Lindsay F. Oehmen and husband Jeff of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter Isabella Maddox; and special caregiver Garry Watkins of Salisbury. Service : 3 p.m. Sunday, Neel Road Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Wilkes. Burial will be in Rowan Memorial Park. Visitation : 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials : American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1264, Salisbury, NC 28144.
