Thelma Odom Obituary
She was born July 7, 1928, in Rockwell, to the late William Edgar and Sophia Alice Cauble Cozart. Mrs. Odom was a 1945 Graduate of Rockwell High School and was employed by Cannon Mills before working for and retiring from Granite Knitwear in 1993, where she was a seamstress. She was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Rockwell and was active as a Sunday School teacher, member of the church choir, and served on numerous committees over the years, including the church council. Mrs. Odom was a member of the Faith American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 71 years, Charles Edwin Odom; brothers, Clyde, Homer, Clarence "Dolly", Cardell, Clay, and Vern Cozart; and sister, Aliene Barringer.
Mrs. Odom is survived by her son, Edwin W. Odom and daughter, Tina A. Odom, both of Rockwell; grandsons, Christopher Edwin Odom and wife, Danielle of Mint Hill, Joseph Chad Odom and wife, Wendy of Monroe; granddaughter, Corrie Amanda Hamm and husband, Robert of Monroe; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will greet friends and relatives from 1:00 until 1:45 PM on Sunday, January 28, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Sunday, in the funeral home chapel, with the Reverend Oscar Shepherd officiating.
Burial will follow in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Odom's caregivers, Wendy Safrit and Tammy Fincher, and her team from Trellis Supportive Care, Tracy, Erin, Shelly, and Chris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church Organ, Basement, or Cemetery Funds, P.O. Box 486, Rockwell, NC 28138 or Trellis Supportive Care, 301 S. Main Street-Suite 105, Salisbury, NC 28144.

Eddie and Tina,
Charlie and Thelma were awesome friends, neighbors and clients. I can´t wait to run into them in heaven. I can just see their huge smiles when they were reunited Monday, January 22.
May Gods peace be with both of you during these coming weeks. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family.

To Tina and family - May your memories of your mother become more precious each day. They will be there on the most difficult days and the most special of days. I lost my mother in 1997 but I talk with her every day and still ask her where things are in my house! I pray that you can feel the loving and comforting arms of God surround and support you.

Dear Tina, Eddie, & Family of Thelma, we are so sorry for the loss of your Swee Mother. She will be sorely missed by all of her Neighbors on Cannon Street, as well as all of her Family and many Friends. Uncle June Vanhoy loved your Mother very much, they were the same age. We pray that precious memories will give you comfort in the days, weeks, and years ahead. We do rejoice with Thelma now that she is with her Lord, Dad, Mom, Husband Charlie, and all of her Loved Ones who have gone on before.
