Wallace Morton Obituary

Wallace E. Morton Jr. "Ed", 74, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Ed was born August 1,1951 to the late Pastor and Mrs. Wallace Morton, formally of Kannapolis. Ed was a graduate of Lanier High School in Macon, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia. He was also a graduate of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Ed was known for his strong work ethic. He worked as a dedicated Correctional Officer at the Atlanta Transitional Institute, Phillips State Prison, and Hancock State Prison while living in Georgia. Mr. Morton also worked for the state of North Carolina as a Correctional Officer at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury.

Ed was a passionate race car fan and attended numerous races at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He was a loyal Atlanta Falcons Fan. He also enjoyed watching the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers.

Ed was a beloved son and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pastor and Mrs. Wallace Morton. Ed is survived by a brother, Steve Morton of Charlotte, a sister, Kathy Wilson (Dave) of Pendleton, SC, a nephew, Kyle Wilson (Ashley) of Anderson, SC, nephew Ben Wilson (Paige) and a great niece, Judy Mae Wilson, of Pendergrass, Georgia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
