William Summerell (Bill) Hall, Jr., 72, of Mt. Ulla, NC passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
The son of the late William Summerell Hall, Sr. and Kathryn Griffin Hall, Bill was born in Salisbury on December 31, 1951, and lived on the family farm in Mount Ulla, NC where he resided until his death. He always spoke fondly of his wonderful childhood, was a devoted son, and honored his parents during their lives and his.
Bill graduated from West Rowan High School, class of 1970. He attended Wake Forest University and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1974 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Bill was very involved in politics and helped with Governor Jim Hunt's election campaign. He served as chairman of the Rowan Parks and Recreation Commission and was a long-time member of the Mount Ulla Lions Club. Bill was an active and faithful member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and a deacon. He participated in many mission and service projects.
He enjoyed his extended family and spending time with all his nieces, and nephews and all their sports activities, traveling to the UK and Ireland, good food, Smithwicks Irish Ale, and anything to do with the NC State Wolfpack-Go Pack!
He enjoyed a variety of careers, working on the family dairy farm, for Carolina Stalite, Mid-South Tractor, Statesville Ag and Turf, and James River Equipment.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cameron Beard Hall, sister, Trina Hall Jackson (Craig), three nieces Kathryn Jackson Maltarich (Mike), Sarah Jackson McNeill (Dan), and Patricia Smith Grubb (Zach), seven grandnieces and nephews, his best dog, Rocket and favorite cat, NAC and many Delta Sig brothers and their wives.
The family wishes to thank Dr. William Brinkley and the wonderful nurses and staff at the Wallace Cancer Institute and the loving and caring nurses and staff at The Glen A. Kiser Hospice House.
A celebration of life will be held at Thyatira Presbyterian Church 220 White Road, Salisbury, NC 28147 on January 11, 2025, with a 1:00pm visitation prior to the 3:00pm service.
