Afton Gibbs Obituary
Afton was born September 28, 1916, in Grace, Idaho. Afton was fortunate to be raised in a large loving family. She had four sisters, Mattie, Eva, Dora, and Della, and three brothers, Sonny, Ivor, and Don. The importance of a strong family relationship was instilled in Afton at a young age. She graduated from Grace High School in 1934 and continued to live in the Grace Valley. She fell in love and married Jack Gibbs on January 8, 1937. Jack and Afton began life together south of Grace in Niter. There, they had a successful cattle ranch and potato farm. Afton took great pride in the success of their small family farm and was a huge support to her husband, Jack. Together they started a family: they had a daughter, Sidney and a son, Marc.
Afton was preceded in death by her husband Jack Gibbs and her son-in-law, Richard Makoff.
She is survived by her daughter Sidney Makoff of Salt Lake City, UT, her son Marc Gibbs (Bonne) of Grace, ID, grandson John Makoff (Justine) of Huntington Beach, CA, granddaughter Tori Booth (John) of Scottsdale, AZ, and grandson Josh Gibbs (Jenny) of Grace, ID, and great-grandchildren Dillon and Madison Makoff, and Harper, Jack, Ivor, and Grey Gibbs.
Services will be held Saturday, March 7th, 2015 at noon at the Williams Ward Chapel in Niter, ID (2060 Niter Bench Road). Family will visit with friends on Saturday morning from 10:00 -11:30am prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Afton's name (300 S. 3rd W, Soda Springs, ID 83276).

Idaho has lost a wonderful woman and heaven has gained an angel. Afton was always so happy and a pleasure to be around. Hopefully all the good memories of her will help to give her family comfort.
