Alexander Conine Obituary

Alexander Scott Conine
1991-2012
Salt Lake City, UT-Alexander Scott Conine, the beloved son of Suzanne and David Conine was born September 24, 1991. He died tragically and unexpectedly early Saturday morning July14, 2012.
Alex was a very bright young man with abundant skills. He was a culinary artist, a great problem solver who worked hard to find perfection in every task he undertook. Alex was a kind and gentle soul, loved by his many friends. His great sense of humor was always based on life's ironies. His humor was kind and never had victims except for a few well deserving politicians. He loved his travels to visit friends in New York and his exploration of communities in Peru with his sister, Melissa.
Alex's talent in fine art photography showed promise at an early age and gradually evolved into his own unique approach to studies of old buildings and automobiles along with experiments in lighting nighttime landscapes. Alex was an unconventional learner but he loved learning and developed in-depth expertise in all of the wide range of subjects that interested him. We will miss the impromptu discussions on architecture and automobile design, on politics, the sciences, the culinary arts, visual arts and more.
Alex was making an orderly transition from the recklessness of youth into the more carefully considered role of a young adult trying to select schooling and career choices from his large array of interests. He loved his work at Snowbird and was excited about the direction that work was taking him. He loved snowboarding, the wild lands and the good friends he made there.
Alex's presence brought the compassion and intelligence that is so lacking in today's world. In remembering Alex we ask all who knew and loved him to act with care for the environment and compassion for humanity. That will be the most fitting memory for the young man we love and greatly miss.
Alex is survived by his parents Dave and Suzanne Conine; brother, Justin Conine of Orem and sister, Melissa Johnson of Salt Lake City.
Alex's life will be celebrated at the Conine Family home beginning at 1:00 PM the afternoon of Sunday July 22. Friends of Alex and his family are invited. Condolences may be sent to www.garnerfuneral.com

Alex and I shared a birthday and some amazing memories of trips we took when he was part of our little skate team and Friday night poker nights at the kitchen table. He was always a favorite and I knew that the world would be better if we had lots of Alex's in it. Now, the one special one we did have will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences to you, his family. Alex touched lives and I am sorry that his greatness ended so soon, too soon.

Dear Alex,
To me you were an angel boy. I want to thank you for being such a beautiful friend to Kirby. It was an honest, enthusiastic and genuine bond. I was flattered to be included for a day of fun & giggles on the mountain with the two of you.
Dear Mom, Dad and family,
We are sad. We join you in honoring Alex and are thinking of you in your grief.
Peace.

We didn't know Alex very long, nor did we see him often, but every visit to our family in SLC brought a visit from him. In a time when so many young people avoid being with "old" folks, Alex always chose to spend time with us --whether in easy conversation, playing board games, or exchanging light-hearted ribbing. He was alway respectful--a son you can be proud of. There will be future trips to visit family, but we know in our hearts that we will always miss spending time with Alex. We send our deepest sympathy. Jim and Anita Williams (aka Katie's grandparents)

I am very saddened to hear about Alex. I know I haven't seen you for a long time, but know you are in my thoughts and heart.
