1930~2024

Riverton, UT-Alvin "Al" Eugene Rust age 94 passed on December 7, 2024, in Riverton, Utah. He was born on May 22, 1930, in Freewater, Oregon to Jacob and Pauline (Raugust) Rust. Alvin married Lauretta Paxton on October 9, 1930. Alvin was the founder of Rust Coin in Salt Lake and currently in Provo, as Freewater Coin Company. Now owned and operated by his grandson, Jacob. He was an avid fisherman and loved all sports. Al was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including the Bishop of original 19th Ward. He is survived by his wife Lauretta. Children: Gaylen, Bryan (Tracie) Rust, Deanne (Kelly) Rust, Larene (Mike) Moreno, and Sherilee (Dean) Kazemini. Nineteen grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Al is also survived by his two sisters: Glenys (David) Becker and Wilma (Tony) Crisi, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was loved by all he knew and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Pauline (Raugust) Rust. Older brother Leonard Rust and grandson Brandon Bills. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Riverton 19th Ward building located at 12830 South 2700 West in Riverton, Utah. A viewing prior to the funeral service from 9:00-10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Kanosh City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m. December 14, 2024. Al Rust was one of my dearest friends for much of my life. I am sorry to have just learned of his passing. I always considered Al one of my mentors in collecting and one of my closest friends. We shared many happy times and a couple sad ones. He will be dearly missed.

We greatly appreciated our neighbors, the Rust family! We remember Alvin fondly with a wide smile and a chuckling laugh. Such a pleasant and knowledgeable man. He was a good provider to his family. I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Al.He was our Bishop many years ago in the old 19th. WARD.We stayed in touch with this wonderful man and his wife for all this years.I remember seeing the whole family at Spirit Lake 50 years ago.We had a great time.I also run into Al at Jazz and U of U Basketball games.Rest in Peace Al.My deepest Condolences to Lauretta and Family.With Love Rudy Seipel
