Ann Dee Obituary

March, 1926 ~ July, 2017
Ann Bailey Dee was born in Logan Utah to Amanda A. Barber and Reed W. Bailey. Her father was a professor at Utah State University. A diligent, hard working student, Ann graduated from Ogden High School where she was the editor of the yearbook. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in education. There she met and married David Bingham Dee in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Throughout her life she was actively involved in the leadership of Primary and the Relief Society of the Church. Ann taught school at Dilworth Elementary School in Salt Lake for three years. While David was in the FBI the couple lived in Chicago and New York City. They moved back to Salt Lake City to raise their family. Ann was a volunteer at Primary Children's Hospital for 45 years and served on their board. Mom had a great love for reading-she would read to us every day during our lunch break home from school. She instilled a love of reading in all her children and was involved in many book study groups, including Daria and Great Books, as well as in a bridge club and dinner club. Ann was a very positive person-always a lady-kind and gentle. She was very involved in raising her four grandchildren. A very talented needlework artist, she made beautiful needlepoint pieces, and other items-most of which she gave to family and friends. She was the head judge of needlework at the Utah State Fair for 20 years. At the age of 82 she won 1st prize for a knitted bedspread.
Ann Bailey Dee died at her home surrounded by her beloved family on Sunday July 16, 2017. She is survived by three children, Alice Lara, Susan Diston (John, deceased) and David R Dee (Sally) and four grandchildren--and many nieces, nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, David and two sisters, Margaret Bailey Farr and Barbara Bailey Behling. A memorial will be held on July 29 at the LDS church, 2020 Michigan Ave. Come share memories of Ann with us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

My family lived next door to Reed and Adaline Bailey for fourteen years. The Bailey girls were my older companions as I grew up.I have the fondest memories of Ann.
