Arlene Howell Christensen passed away September 26, 2014. She was born May 4, 1932 in Holladay, Utah. She was the2nd of 4 children born to Pearl Miller and Charles Albert Howell. Her siblings are Arva J. (Karl) Nelson, Kenneth R (Jeanette) Howell, and Joan K. (Norm) Wood. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Arva and her brother Ken. She married Alan P. Christensen on February 20, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. She and Alan are the parents of 7 children: Cory A. (Terry), Douglas J. (Angelica), Jolene (David) Harris, Nyle K. (Jana), Janae (Steven) Patton, Jenette (Wynn) Hougaard and Clint E. (Teri). She was also preceded in death by a son, Douglas J. and a daughter-in-law, Noemi Valenzuela Christensen. In addition to her husband and 6 of their children, she is survived by 27 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Arlene graduated from Jordan High School in 1950 and attended Brigham Young University. She accompanied her husband while he served 2 years in the United States Army in Baltimore, Maryland and New York City, New York during the Korean War. Her career was being a wonderful mother to seven rambunctious children and wife to one rambunctious husband. Arlene served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including 35 years as a Name Extractor & Indexer. She also served over 20 years as an Assistant Coordinator and Ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple.
A viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley at 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), South Jordan, Utah on Tuesday, September 30th, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 1st, 2014 at the River Ridge 1st Ward Meeting House at 10124 South 1300 West, South Jordan. There will also be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral at the Lehi City Cemetery, 1100 North 400 East, Lehi, Utah.
