Beverly Hartwell Obituary

Beverly "Pete" Hartwell

August 26, 1927 ~ February 23, 2021

"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives."

Beverly Peterson Hartwell of Draper, loving mother, daughter, sister, grandma, GG, aunt and friend, passed away with loving family in her home at the beautiful ripe age of 93.

"Bev" was born in Montpelier, Idaho August 26th 1927, to Harvey J. Peterson and Winifred Arnold Peterson Terpenning (Ben Terpenning). She married Joesph J. Hartwell, they later divorced. She is survived by brother Gerald (Crista) Peterson, her son, Greg Hartwell and her daughter Kristine (Alan) Summerhays and her grandchildren; Greg Jr, Benjamin, Tessie, Ian, Ryan (Brittany), Kaitlan (Brett), Megan (Arawa) & Camryn as well as her many Great Grandchildren: Benjamin, Owen, Emree, Daxton, Gracee, Nova, Scout, Jaymer, Trae, Rylee, Knox, Milo, Taika, Noah, Drake, Sydnee, Payton and Ainzlee and her many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her mother and father, step dad Ben Terpenning, her sister Geraldine, her brother Douglas, her cousin Ione, her nephew Joed, her daughter-in-law Linda, her grandson Dustan and all her cherished pets, that she treated like royalty.

Bev lived a life full of adventure- As a single woman in the 60's she was determined to reach her financial goals, and she did! She was a hardworking woman; who started working at the age of 12, when she was younger people always thought she was older than she was because of her height- being that she hit 5'9 already. She spent most nights in high school calling railroad crews to work by riding her bike from place to place then heading straight to school.

"Ding Dong AVON Calling!" - Man, did she love Avon! She dedicated many decades of her life; hiring, motivating and putting on a show at sales meetings. When she was on that stage she just transformed!

She was a celebrated district manager, managing up to 400 women at a time. She was in "The Circle of Excellence"for the six consecutive years it ran, starting in 1973, thanks to that Circle she was able to travel the world.

After she retired she spent the years dotting on her children, grandchildren and her immaculate home and yard. She loved going to her "stores" and making life long friends with all the employees. She stayed in touch with many of her "Avon ladies" and would meet them for lunch regularly.

She worked at Guadalahonkys, in many positions. Years after she stopped working she would stop in to say hello and get her daily "Diet Coke with lotsa, lotsa of ice" in her massive insulated jug.

She lived across the street from her daughter Kristine for 40 years and like clockwork she would get the mail and head over to Kristine's to catch her up on her daily happenings and her "soaps". When she left, there would be a lingering perfume, so you'd know she had been there not long before.

She was the most well put together and timeless woman on the block; her spirit was as fiery as her red hair and she had the best sense of humor! She was thoughtful and very tender hearted, those close to her knew how much she cared. She loved just spending time with people and always remembered a birthday. She deeply cherished her special relationship with her cousin Ione and friendships with her sister-in-law Crista Peterson, close friends Barbara Nielson, Jill Lowry, Ken Roden and longtime neighbor Becky Hutcheon.

The Wake was a good way to bring Beverly's many friends together. It was my pleasure to see members of her family after all these years. My late wife Rickie and I used to visit Bev starting in the 1960s. I treasure the memories of those visits and feel fortunate to have known this special person for so long. Bev really did have a lot of class!

Bev, was such a sweet and friendly lady. Always had her hair, makeup and clothing done to perfection. She would stop by Guadalahonkys to get her diet coke on her way to run errands. We would always chat with one another about various things and I enjoyed our visits. So sad to see such a beautiful soul leave our presence! Rest in peace Bev. My condolences to the Summerhays Family.

Bev was "ONE CLASSY" lady. She was my first Mother-N-Law, and later my 3rd Mother-N-law. Bev bought me my very first sewing machine. Bev always looked like she came out of a fashion magazine. She looked like a million bucks when she worked in her flower beds. She got me addicted to AVON and to this day, little make-up is required. She professionally did my make-up for the Jr. Prom. She taught me more lessons in life, than many will ever know. I know her family will miss her greatly.
