Brad Egbert Obituary

Brad C. Egbert (Brad Stone)

1952 - 2024

Salt Lake City, Utah Idaho Falls, Idaho -Brad Egbert, also known as Brad Stone in the Radio and TV world, passed away on September 11,2024 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Brad was born in Driggs, Idaho on March 5,1952 to Irwin and Darleene Egbert, later moving to Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Brad's love of sports started early. His Dad "encouraged" his young son to be a Colts (Johnny Unitas) and Yankees fan. Many hours were spent with his dad playing catch in the backyard. As a result, Brad became a top-notch pitcher with Little League and Pony League baseball teams. Before graduating Skyline High School in 1970, Brad excelled in football, basketball, and track.

As a young sports fanatic, Brad would listen to games on the radio all the time. He drove his parents crazy by practicing play-by-play, day and night, in every room. His practice served him well when years later Brad would do sports for the University of Utah, Utah State University, Skyview High School, and the Utah Jazz. Great memories were made with family and friends traveling with the Utes to away games, Bowl games and NCAA March Madness; even spending one Christmas at a Las Vegas Hotel!

Brad attended Ricks College before graduating from Radio Engineering School in California. He began his career in radio, not doing sports, but as a music DJ. His love of music was a close second to sports. Brad worked at stations in Idaho Falls and Ogden before getting his dream job at KCPX in Salt Lake City. He worked in SLC radio for years before moving into sports at KALL radio. Brad also worked doing morning sports on KUTV-TV.

Brad loved to golf, getting a hole in one at Riverside Country Club. He loved going to movies, reading a good book and of course watching all sporting events on TV and in person. Brad loved a good concert and there wasn't any group he did not see working in radio and as the voice of United Concerts.

Brad's love of sports and music defined him in many ways, but the love for his children, Travis and Allison, defined his life. His heart was broken when Travis passed away at age 27 as part of him had been taken forever. Brad adored Allie, calling her the light of his life. He shared his passion for sports and music with her and in turn she shared all things in her life even getting him hooked on TV shows including "The Young and the Restless!"

"It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right. I hope you had the time of your life."

Until we hug again, Love you Pops!

Brad is survived by his daughter, Allie Egbert, ex-spouse and friend Wendi Blaisdell Egbert (Scott) and brother Brent Egbert (Kelli).

Preceded in death by his parents, son Travis Egbert, nephew Tyson Egbert.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in the Malad City, Idaho cemetery.

I met Brad in Ogden Utah about 2010 or 11. I knew him as a good conversationist in regards to music, especially rock and roll. He was a happy person and spoke of his children often. I found out about his sports mania a bit later and.me not being as sports minded as he, we stuck to our mutual music interests. I moved and sadly lost track of old aquaintences. 3 days ago I heard a song on the radio that Brad would play at my request whenever I called the station in Logan. It was always cool that my friend loved the song too. It was by the band Head East. I found his Obit about a month too late and am sorry we didn't talk again. My condolences to his family, just wanted to say hi.

RIP Brad, you were a spectacular human being. I used to work up the hall from Brad in a different radio station. One of my favorite memories is when I arranged to get the Stanley Cup to take a mini tour of the radio complex. I took it down to the KALL studio to show it off to Tom Barberi & Brad Stone, they were both thrilled & Brad couldn't stop smiling. I miss seeing you up on Highland Drive while playing the juke box. Brad you mean alot to me. Thanks for the friendship!

Got to know Brad when he was at KCPX and I was Adv. Director at Alta Distributing. He had a great voice and cut a lot of spots for our music rack-jobber business. Played lots of softball and golf. Did not know he had migrated to Idaho.

He was a terrific guy. Sincere condolences to his family. RIP, Brad.

To all family and friends of Brad. . . Take comfort in knowing you have so many beautiful memories to hold onto. I first remember hearing his name from good `ole Mel Richardson as he announced games. I wondered who this athlete was scoring points against my Bonneville Bees! Then we met in 1970 at Ricks. I was the night DJ at the local radio station. He would come sit in the control room with me for hours. I wanted to move up to bigger stations and he wanted to get into radio, so we both moved to Los Angeles to go to radio engineering school to get the coveted 1st class license. This is where one of my goofiest memories of Brad happened. [other than him putting ketchup on everything] - We had an apartment in Glendale and on one early morning in 1971 that huge earthquake hit LA and the next thing I knew we were outside with another roommate clad in nothing but our shorty shorts watching houses around us cave in and the swimming pool standing up dumping all the water out on us. Soon after we jumped into that big yellow car of his and headed back to Idaho. Well, my friend. You made it to that great turntable in the sky before me. . . God be with you till meet again! I'm the "neighbor girl across the street." Brad and I grew up together in the same neighborhood. He was a school chum, my brother's good friend, and I even had a secret crush on him in junior high. The neighborhood "gang" used to play together - mostly sports, army (they always made me be the nurse as I was the only girl), riding bikes, staying out till 10 p.m. at night playing tag, hide and seek and telling stories. I am saddened by his passing. He was an ultra-talented person and I loved hearing him on the radio. RIP, Brad. You are in my childhood memories forever.

I first met Brad in grade school and instantly liked him. He was always nice to me. It was great to see him as a pitcher at an early age and follow his progression through high school. To later hear his voice on the radio and see him on TV made me proud to have been a friend. What a great guy! He made me feel important every time I saw him, so generous. I´m so sorry for your loss.

Brad was a junior high buddy of mine who unfortunately went to a different high school. He was an amazing athlete and even better person. In fact, he taught me how to play golf (which in retrospect may have been a curse rather than a blessing). May he rest in peace and finally get to meet Mickey Mantle.

I´m so sorry for your loss. I worked with your dad at KALL for years. I remember him like it was yesterday. Him and Tom Barberi. He was a great guy and fun to be around. I wish your family well.
