Carol Allred Obituary
Carol Renee Olsen Allred
04/17/1949 - 10/06/2025
Salt Lake City, UT-Carol Renee Olsen Allred, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born in Ogden, Utah on April 17, 1959, Carol was the daughter of Virginia (West) and Burt Raymond Olsen. She was doted on by her parents, surrounded by love and forging lifelong bonds with her close cousins Janet, Helen, Maddie, and Dee who were like siblings to her.
Carol was an avid gardener (thanks to her father who was a horticulturalist and had a nursery in his backyard) and had the most beautiful hydrangeas in Centerville. She took pride in making her yard colorful and loved having her hands in the dirt. Her favorite flowers were daisies, lilacs, and yellow roses.
Carol learned to play the violin and piano at a young age and was practicing her instruments as recently as the week before she passed. Carol loved to sing and participated in several select choirs at her alma mater – Highland High School. Her love of music is what brought her and Evan Allred together – meeting in the University of Utah Chamber Choir. They were married on April 14, 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple.
There was hardly a time she wasn't singing, particularly if there was a tune she liked on the radio. She took joy in working out complicated harmonies to whatever she was singing along with. She and Evan continued to perform together in the Utah Opera Company and several stage productions around the valley with her most memorable performance as Eulalie Mackechnie Shinn in "The Music Man."
Carol loved to travel – mostly to somewhere warm and "beachy." She particularly enjoyed Laguna Beach, CA and went there frequently. Her favorite place in the world was Disneyland. She attended the park the first year it opened and has tried to return as many times as possible throughout her life. This instilled a similar love for all things Mickey with her children and grandchildren.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, and husband. She is survived by her three children and their spouses Amy (Gary) Oakeson, Betsy (Erik) Christianson, and Casey (Sara) Allred; and six grandchildren (Jonas, Jonathan, Ethan, Isabel, Lydia, and Lyla). Carol took great pride in her children's successes, pushing them to always be their best. This gave her children a tremendous work ethic and sense of responsibility to enrich those around them – a gift they will always be grateful for.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on November 1, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4501 West 11800 South, Riverton UT, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Carol's remarkable life.
