Carol passed away at home following a most courageous battle with cancer. Carol was the oldest of six children and she took this responsibility seriously. She was hard working, determined, and at times downright stubborn, earning her the nickname "Sarge". Never was a task too big and she was always there to help even without being asked. She was a great cook and her kitchen was always open to all.
Carol married James Hansen (later divorced) and together they had two children, Lisa and Larry. Carol excelled at motherhood and she was dedicated to family. She never missed a football game, wrestling match, or dance recital. You could always find her in the front row cheering on her children. After she raised her children, she found new enjoyment in spoiling her five grandchildren. She was especially fond of trips to Disneyland with them.
Carol was given a second chance at love and married Bart Williams. Together they enjoyed fishing, traveling, and large family gatherings. Bart passed away in 2008.
During the last few years of her life, Carol enjoyed traveling with her sister Charlette and cousins "Big" Carol and Kathleen. "The Gals" went on some fabulous trips and Carol always looked forward to their next adventure.
Carol is survived by her siblings Charlette (Larry) Rogers, Mike Brady, Paul (Yvonne) Rufener, and Bill (Linda) Rufener; her children Lisa (Paul) Ruff and Larry (Melissa) Hansen; and her grandchildren Megan, McKenzie, and Jake Ruff; Brykel and Jaegar Hansen. She is preceded in death by her parents Bonnie Rufener and Blaine Brady; husband Bart Williams, sister Robyn Deans, and sister-in-law Maxine Brady.
Services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11am in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Chapel, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd., in Sandy, with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:45am and entombment to follow the service.
Carol was brave and heroic; she fought cancer right to the end. She never complained and kept a positive attitude. She leaves behind a big void in the lives of those who loved her. Godspeed Mom. Thank you for your love, encouragement, and devotion.
