Cassandra Mae Kalmar was born on February 4, 1993. She fought her way into this world and was instantly loved by all who met her. Physically, Cassie never had it easy. She suffered many complications that limited her abilities during her life. Despite all of her limitations, her wonderful Spirit had no handicap. Cassie was always the life of the party. She instantly lit up the room wherever she was. People could not help but love her. Cassie's greatest accomplishments in her life include being a daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She knew her part in each of these roles and eagerly engaged her life in blessing the lives of others. Cassie is the bravest and strongest person we know.
August 21, Cassie left this world peacefully, surrounded by her parents Mark & Joyce, nine siblings: Jennifer (Joseph), Emilee (Kent), Kristalee (Levi), Robert (Erica), Stephanie, Benjamin, William, Nathan, Kathleen (Tyler); nine nieces, six nephews, and family and friends. She is now running and dancing with angels and is no longer held back by her body. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Anna Marie Kalmar and Elden and Donna Barnes.
Our heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff in the PICU and the 3rd Floor CMU, and the many doctors at Primary Children's who looked after our sweet Cassie.
Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, August 27, at the Granger South Stake Center 4586 W Woodbury Circle, WVC. Viewing will be on Tuesday, August 26, 6:00-8:00 pm at the stake center, and prior to the funeral from 10:30-11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers an account has been set up in her name at America First CU to assist with final expenses. Directors Independent Funeral Service

I said goodbye to an Angel tonight. I was glad that i went early and had the chance to view the video, it made me love that girl even more. I love you Cassie you will be missed. May your family be comforted and be surrounded by the loving arms of Our Saviors, Until we meet again tag your It!

Having spent time at PCMC with our son John before his early death, and losing our own brothers at early ages, we rejoice with you and your family with the teaching of the prophet Joseph Smith that some of God's children are "too pure, too lovely to live on this earth - they are exalted to a greater and more glorious work." Cassie is one-of-a-kind. Her smile is one that spreads to everyone in the room. I think she tagged me last, so I must still be "It" until we meet again. She will be missed, but we also know how good she's got it now...not that any of her disabilities ever held her back in this life. May the Lord bless her and her family.

I was her Bus Aide on the School bus. Cassie also lived in our stake. Cassie always seemed to have a smile for everyone, it didn't matter weather it was at Church or school she always shared her beautiful smile. I love you Cassie! you will forever be missed.
I know that you are running with the Angels and playing your special game of tag your it.. Brother and Sister Kalmar and Family, may you always know how much your Daughter Cassie was loved and how she was able to show that love back. you are forever in our thoughts and may you feel of the love that our Savior has for you, and may his love surround you now and forever.

I was one of her teachers at Hartvigsen School. I would tease her, "Cassie, where ever I go, there you are," or "Oh, Cassie, that's you. I didn't recognize you without your sparkles hat." Like so many of the students at our school, Cassie was more than just a student, she was a dear friend. We will miss her.

I was one of Cassandra's nurses at Primary Children's, and I was devastated to hear about her passing. Cassie had such a beautiful, bright Spirit, and kept me smiling the whole time I was with her! She was one of the sweetest and nicest patients I've ever had the privilege of taking care of. I know that she is still helping many others to smile. Thoughts and prayers go out to her wonderful family.
