Charles Kirsling Obituary

Charles (Chip) Eugene Kirsling
1955 ~ 2011
Charles (Chip) Eugene Kirsling, returned to his heavenly father on Oct 2nd 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer with his loving sister Kathy by his side in Richland WA.
Charles was born on Oct 17 1955 in Murray UT to Julia and Benjamin Kirsling. The youngest of seven children, he attended St Ann's, St Vincent's and Murray High School. He married Susan Rowsell and fathered two beautiful children, Christopher and Whitney Kirsling and was a stepfather to Nathan and Anthony Crebs. Charlie was a devout Catholic and instilled his morals and life experience on his children and anyone who sought his council.
Charlie overcame a lot in his life starting at a young age. In his early 20's he proudly set homes for Boise Cascade. After several years delivering soda and beer he moved on into the car business where he mastered the art of selling. He was a top salesman for Butterfield Ford as well as other Ford dealerships in Utah and Oregon for nearly five years before following his father's footsteps into the insurance industry. Charlie was a proud second-generation life insurance salesman for nearly 33 years before his passing, servicing thousands of clients throughout the years with not one complaint against him in that time period. He either founded or co-founded five different companies and was a very respected and honorable General Agent who will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
Charlie loved a good conversation or debate and spending endless hours with his friends, family, brothers and sisters as well as his many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. Charlie loved music, spending time in the mountains, was a huge dog person, played the tenor sax, and loved to carve and work with wood. Charlie faced many health issues down through the years, but was very successful despite these shortcomings. He taught us all through example to fight a good fight and to never give up on life.
Preceded in death by his parents as well as his brothers Ben and Mike. Survived by his beloved children Christopher Kirsling, as well as Whitney Robert Perez; brothers and sisters, Patricia Chuck Clarke; Robert and Bonnie Pyper; Louie (Lud) and Angela Kirsling; Kathy (Poop) and Jerry Vail; seven grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
The family is particularly grateful to Aunt Kathy and Uncle Jerry for their loving and tender care in Charlie's battle against cancer for the past ten months. It is with their love and dedication that he was able to pass away peacefully in his sleep at home. Charlie also loved several of his nephew's who gave so much from their hearts down through the years to him, particularly John, Sam and Matthew Kirsling, Luke Gillespie, Benedict (Spunk) Kirsling as well as their families and friends who gave of their time to help Chris and Charlie through their many years battling Charlie's health issues.
Viewing / Vigil will be held at Aspen Funeral Services, 459 W Universal Cir (9160 S), Thursday Oct 6th from 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St Ann's Catholic Church 2100 S 500 E, Friday Oct 7th at 11 a.m. Flowers can be sent to Aspen Funeral Services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
