Charles Metcalfe Obituary

May 15, 1937 ~ July 20, 2015
Ben passed away peacefully on July 20, 2015 at age 78. He was born May 15, 1937 in Houston, TX the only child of Charlie and Ruth Hill Metcalfe. He spent his formative years in Denver, CO., graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder with a BSCE and BSBA. His working career led him to the Denver & Rio Grande Western RR and then to the corporate Real Estate Division of Champion International Paper Company. Ben had a passion for life. He loved car racing, skiing, tennis, golfing, model railroading, and photography. In his later years he would read a book a day, and fly around the world on his computer flight simulator.
Ben is survived by his wife of 36 years Jenny; his children Steve (Sally) Metcalfe and their children Emily and Ben; Will Metcalfe, Pam (Scott) Hoffman, and numerous cousins. Ben loved his children and grandchildren. Memorial and graveside services will be held at a later time in Austin, TX.

Jenny, I am so sorry for your loss. I never had the opportunity to meet Ben, but he sounded like a very interesting man. He was lucky to have a devoted wife by his side. I think he is now really flying around the world first hand, no need for the simulator! Sending prayers to you and his children.
