Charles Teed Obituary

March 2, 1918 ~ July 23, 2014
Charles W. Teed, 96, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Las Vegas, NV.
The son of Charles and Loretta Teed, he was born on March 2, 1918 in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Fullerton High School and JC before graduating from Stanford University. His education was interrupted by World War II, when he joined the Army. He was honorably discharged as a Captain having been in charge of numerous supply depots throughout the mid-west. This experience led to a very successful retail career with Sears for more than 30 years. He used his military knowledge to help modernize Sears receiving systems and after numerous promotions, he became manager of the Canoga Park store in 1969, the largest Sears store at the time, retiring in 1981.
Charles was a generous and giving man, participating in numerous civic activities and programs. He was an Eagle Scout and remained active as a volunteer for the organization for most of his life.
In 1971, he married Wilma Loizos, of Salt Lake City, or as he put it "my little Greek treasure". They spent 25 wonderful years together, painting, traveling to Greece nine times and buying a RV, traveling throughout the western US skiing and fishing.
They lived in Van Nuys, CA before moving to Las Vegas, NV in 1989 where they formed many lasting friendships and enjoyed active participation in the Greek Orthodox Church.
Charles was preceded in death by Wilma and his brother Bob Teed. He is survived by his children, Gary, Nancy, Tom, and Sally, as well as 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother-in-law Sam Loizos and numerous nieces and nephews and his three wonderful 'Angels', Jennifer, Linda and Mary, who were always looking out for him.
Gravesides services will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Murray City Cemetery.

Charles Teed was a wonderful man who I met because my husband worked with him. Don and Charles became fast friends and that led to a warm friendship with Wilma and myself. Our dinners and visits always seemed to be festive... full of hugs, laughter, and always good conversation. Charles was a caring man who warmed people. He treated me kindly and it was obvious that he and Don loved one another. He was very supportive of Don and mentored him throughout his career at Sears. Today I was enjoying old Christmas cards and I read one of his. It made me think of him....such special memories. May he continue to RIP in heaven.

Charles Teed was a man of quiet strength, wisdom, tremendous compassion and philanthropy. I had the honor of knowing him through St John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas Nevada. A very active member up until his death. His presence will be missed and the Las Vegas community was blessed with having him in our parish. May his memory be eternal.

I don't know that there will be a day that goes by that I won't think of you or remember something you told me...or a time at any gathering that you weren't there...I feel as though I have known you all my life. There will be a hole in my heart and the heart of my family in your absence. I know that you are with Wilma now. I will miss our talks and our many Christmas' and our special breakfasts. There were so many times. Too many to count! I have no doubt that you have shaped my life more than you will ever know and that I will miss your wisdom and kindness in our lives. What a blessing you were to us Charles. I was never the angel...you were. Until we meet again...don't let the vinegar of yesterday spoil the wine of today...and worry not of tomorrow for it is not yet yours. ??

It has been an honor knowing Charlie for the past 8 years. He will be missed by all his friends at The Rampart where he loved relaxing and playing video poker. He had a interesting life and stayed very active all of his life.

Charles was a giving man. He went out of his way to get me a job at Sears....my first real job, and later an interview with Dean Witter when I was looking which lead to a my 31 year career. He was an unsung leader in many ways and reminded me of Ronald Reagan.....not just in business but with family too. I will miss is strong optimism, his friendship, his permanence. He lived to be 96 just like his terrific parents. His end marks the end of an era.
