My sincere condolences. Uncle Jay was a very kind man. I remember when my father Wade (brother of Uncle Jay) died that Uncle Jay told me if I ever needed someone to talk to that I could talk to him. He was a big comfort. I'm sure he will be missed very much by all.

Chase made a lasting impression on me as a boyscout as he told us his story over 35 years ago. I have never forgotten that heroic account and his story helped me enjoy a lasting respect for his generation. I am so glad I was able to visit with him as recently as last summer.

I am Chase's son Craig's mission president in the West Indies. Elder Craig Nielsen is one of the finest missionaries we have received in this mission. He is very close to his father and is working harder than ever to bring souls unto Christ. He represents his father well.

Mrs. Nielson,
My warmest sympathy to you and your family. The time we spent together during the filming of our documentary, One Hour Over Tokyo was some of the most inspiring of my life. Your husband was a true gentle soul, a man among men who graced us all with his humble nature and kind spirit. And he was so lucky to have you by his side. God Bless you as your amazing husband makes his final flight into heaven.

Uncle Jay was always the quiet and humble man with strength that was tested and proven in this life. He always stood for the finest our souls have to offer. Proud of his heritage and country. Quiet and reserved in his accomplishments.Truley an example of what mankind is capable of in their finest hour.. I am so proud to have known him.

My personal and family condolunces to you and your family at this time. I have been a great admirer of Col. Nielsen for over 40 years. It was a privledge to personally know a bonified war hero. One of my most treasured possessions will always be my copy of the book "Four Came Home" that Col. Nielsen personally inscribed to me. Winston S. Churchill once said, of some other airmen, "Never in the field of human endevor has so much been owed by so many to so few". That description surely fits Col. Nielsen. Shakespheare also said something fitting, which was/is "He was a man, take him for all in all. We shall not see his like again".

Dear Nielsen's, I was sorry to hear about Chase passing away. I have always admired him and what he did so we could have our freedom. My Mother was Chase's cousin, Billie Miller Nielsen. Mom has 4 grandsons that were in the military. The latest was my son, Hyrum, who was in Afganistan last year. Chase was a wonderful example for him to follow.

I did not personally know Mr. Nielsen but I knew of him and the Doolittle Raiders and admired and respected them all. God Bless him and those he left behind. I came along a few years after Mr. Nielsen as a B-29 gunner in the Korean War but we shared many things in common.

I was also in the Army Air Corp during WWII at the time of the first air strike on Japan. I did not know any of the crew members, nor did they know me, however I followed their adventures closely. These guys were my heroes.
Please accept my deepesr sympathies.
