Claire Stanley Obituary

Claire C. Stanley

1944 ~ 2023

Claire Stanley, a devoted wife, loving mother, and passionate advocate for women in labor and birthing, peacefully passed away on September 16, 2023 at 78 years old in Sandy, Utah. She was born in White Plains, New York, and at the age of 13, she relocated to Salt Lake City with her family.

Claire's life was enriched by her marriage to her high school sweetheart, James Stanley, with whom she shared many beautiful moments. Together, they were blessed with three wonderful children, Dawn Dielmann, Edward Stanley, and Heather Flowers. Claire also leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandson, Joshua Dielmann, great-grandson Taylor Dielmann, and son-in-law David Dielmann.

Claire's journey in life was marked by her unwavering determination to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She achieved this aspiration by graduating from Weber State College, a testament to her commitment and dedication. Her true calling, however, lay in her passion for women in labor and birthing. Claire initiated numerous programs aimed at assisting expectant mothers, eventually establishing her own successful business in this field.

Claire possessed an adventurous spirit and found immense joy in traveling, exploring the landscapes of both her home country and Europe. She had a gift for finding the beauty in each day, and never let the artistry of a sunrise or sunset go unnoticed. Her genuine delight in nature's wonders left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to share these experiences with her.

Deeply rooted in her faith, Claire was an active member of the Roman Catholic Church. She enthusiastically participated in various parish and school activities, embodying the spirit of community and service. Claire and her beloved husband, James Stanley, served side by side in Marriage Encounter for many years, exemplifying their enduring commitment to each other and their shared mission of strengthening marriages.

Claire Stanley's memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of compassion, dedication, and love will continue to inspire and guide us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Claire's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 East Spring Lane, Salt Lake City. Committal will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Ave and "T" Street.

I went to nursing school with Claire and later worked with her at the U. She was always very kind and helpful whenever I had questions. She will be missed. My thoughts are with her family at this time.

Jim and family,
Our deepest sympathies go out to you, for the loss of your beloved Claire. She was a wonderful lady, who brought out the best in everyone that she met. We remember both of you from our days being involved in Marriage Encounter. May Our Savior Jesus Christ hold her gently in the palms of His hands, until you are together once more.
May she rest in peace.
