Constance Durfee Obituary

Constance Bailey Durfee
1938 - 2013
Constance Bailey Durfee died September 28, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born February 13, 1938 in Moab, Utah to Jerald E. Bailey and Mary Taylor Barton Bailey. She lived in Monticello until the age of two when her family moved to Anaconda, Montana where she spent the rest of her childhood years. She graduated from Anaconda High School and attended both Western Montana College and Brigham Young University where she met her husband Milo Vaughn Durfee. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 22, 1957. They moved from Provo to Oakland, California area until a few years before Milo passed away. They moved to Taylorsville, Utah where Milo passed away on November 19, 1973. She continued to raise her seven children there in Taylorsville until moving to Grantsville after her retirement from Abbott Laboratories. She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. She loved music and was always a member of her ward choir. The most important things in her life were her testimony and her family. She had many special friendships with those from her ward, Abbott and the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers. She was a wonderful example to us all and we'll miss her very much, but we are happy she is with Dad again.
She is survived by her siblings: Dennis M. Bailey (Margie), Russell K. Bailey (Marcia), Deborah B. Smith (Jerry), Margaret B Staib (Chuck), sister-in-law Jane Latham Bailey Griffiths, children: Vaughn R. Durfee (Tammy), Janell D. Lieber (Mike), Warren B. Durfee (Anna), Chad D. Durfee (Jill), Jeffrey M. Durfee (JoAnn), Milo J. Durfee, Tyler L. Durfee (Tonya), 38 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and many extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jeffrey Barton Bailey, two brothers who died in infancy and one great grandchild.
Viewing will be held Thursday, October 3 at the LDS Chapel, 3495 W 4850 S, Taylorsville, Utah from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Viewing also to be held in the Grantsville LDS Chapel, 81 Church Street, Grantsville, Utah, on Friday, October 4, 9:30-10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral services in the same building at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in honor of Connie's love of missionary work (she has five grandchildren currently serving) to the LDS General Missionary Fund. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com.

We appreciate all of the love and support we have received from all of our friends and family who loved our mom so much! She was a shining example to us all. She was very determined and willing to fight for so long. She seemed to decide a few weeks before her death that she was ready to reunite with our dad that she had been away from for 40 years. I'm sure it was a glorious reunion when they were able to meet again on the other side of the veil.

Thanks again for all of the love and support.

Dear Brother Durfee (Vaughn and Tammy),

How sad I was to learn of the death of your sweet mother. And I am so sorry for your loss. Things will never be quite the same without her. Losing your mom after so many years of her being a wdow is just such a sad event. I pray that the Spirit of the Lord will comfort you and that you will feel of the joy that she now has in being with her sweetheart after being separated for so many many years. May Heavenly Father bless and be with you and comfort you especially at this time of your grief.

Connie--a good person through and through. She always had a smile on her face and I don't believe I ever heard her say anything negative or mean about anyone. I was so touched when I discovered that I was included in the obituary. The gesture brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for being so thoughtful. What an honor it is to be tied to the Bailey family forever. I love you all. Connie, love to you--until we meet again.

Chad and Jill and family,
We are sure sorry to read about your mom and grandmother's passing. She must of been a pretty special lady if she had you all part of her family. What a blessing the gospel gives us hope and peace and the knowledge we will see our family again that passes on. We love and miss you in our ward.
