Cory Powers Obituary

Cory Powers

November 22, 1956 ~ June 17, 2023

Cory Powers passed peacefully surrounded by his family in Salt Lake City. He was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother. Cory loved traveling and was able to see much of the world. Some of his favorites included the elephants in Africa, pyramids of Egypt, the art in Italy, and many pristine blue waters in which he swam with joy. He spent many summers fishing in Alaska on the Kenai River with his twin sons. Cory graduated from the University of Utah and was a loyal Utes Football and Utah Jazz fan. He was highly respected by his colleagues and clients as he built a successful career as a stock trader and broker. Cory was a strong, kind, honest, and gentle soul who will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Cory was preceded in death by his father, Jim Powers. He is survived by his wife Candace Powers in Salt Lake City; Daughter Shannon (Willie Hatton-Ward) Powers in Salt Lake City; Sons Dillon Powers in Salt Lake City, and Riley Powers in Nikiski Alaska; Mother Margie Powers in Brigham City; Brother Mike Powers in Brigham City; Sister Shawna (Jim) Patten in Sandy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

An Irish Wake will be held to celebrate Cory in the fall of 2023. More information to come. -
