Our Papa, Dan J. Martinsen left his earthly struggles behind and returned to his Heavenly Father on March 13, 2013.
He was born June 24, 1955 in Vernal, Utah to Lyle J. & Lora D. (Stewart) Martinsen. He grew up in Murray and graduated from Murray High School where he met his sweetheart Sandra Maxwell. They were married for 36 years and raised four beautiful daughters. Dan was a tender, devoted, loving husband, father, son, brother and papa.
He is survived by his parents, wife Sandra, daughters Sara Toro (Cedro), Amy and Emily. He adored his 8 grandchildren Bailey, Bryton, Tayjah, Zegen, Aspen, Maxim, Brecken and Marley. His siblings: Stewart (Debra), Lynette LaPoint (Tom), Lane (Tara), LaDawn Bowman (Matthew). He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter Lacy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Murraydale Ward LDS Church, 6300 South 300 East Murray, Utah. At his request only family and close friends at the viewing preceeding the funeral from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at the church.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Dan one time, but I always felt the love that his amazing family shares with him. My love to Sandra and their family and I know that it will be wonderful when we are all reunited with our loved ones again.

Sandre and Girls. what wonderful memoeies I and Doris have of Dan and Sandra. Those days in the Edison Ward were happy and fun filled. Sandra, you and Dan were and still are loved by all who know you. What a bueatiful family you guys made. Love will trump any thing else. here we are giving our love to you and your daughters.

Dear Sandra, My heart aches for you. Wish there was something I could do to help you. I remember when we all lived so close together in Murray and the young carefree kids we were. I love you Sandra and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Life certainly isn't fair but lean on those who are there for you and grieve in any way you need to. Dear Family;
We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear about Dan's passing. What precious childhood memories I have with him. The picture Dad sent with the six cousins on the couch says it all-happy, fun, golden times. I cherish the cousin/friendship we had. Sandra and girls, you have endured so much this past year, your strength amazes me. Dan loved you with all his heart, so happy I got to see him in October. I remember I got to see Lacy just a few months before she passed away also, strange how that happened. I hadn't seen either of them for years. Love you all, stay strong.
