1930 - 2014
Dan passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Sandy, Oct, 19, 2014. Dan was born February 8, 1930 to Arthur Roscoe Troyer and Muriel Lucille Covert Troyer in Kearney Nebraska. He attended Jr High and High school in Rawlins WY where he was active in sports. His family then moved to Salt Lake City. He graduated from East High. He married Mary Jean Ferguson June 26, 1948. Dan retired from Kennecott Copper where he worked as an operating engineer. Dan could build anything or fix anything. He also loved to bake and garden.
He loved having his family, especially his grand children and great grandchildren around him. He would grab the babies before anyone else could and walked for hours with them. He made sure there were bikes and toys available for them to use. He was devoted to his wife Jean of 66 years and even in the end his final duties were making sure she was being taken care of.
Dan is survived by his wife Jean, their sons: Daniel A. (Lon & Dawna) Troyer Jr, Stanley Arthur (Art & Apryl) Troyer, Jeffery Lynn Troyer, brother Glenn James Troyer, Mrs. Jerry (Mary Jane) Troyer, 27 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jerry Lee, Ronnie, and Allan Paul Troyer
Viewing Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South. Funeral Service Wednesday, Oct. 22 @ 11:00 am with viewing from 10 - 10:45 am at Mt. Jordan 3rd Ward Chapel, 8950 South 400 East, Sandy, Utah. Online condolences at www.larkincares.com
