David Wells Kerr6/22/22 ~ 11/11/03  David Wells Kerr, 81, of Spanish Fork, Utah passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2003 while vacationing in Laughlin, Nevada.  He was born June 22, 1922 in Paterson, New Jersey to David and Mary Josephine Babcock Kerr. He married Erna Mildred Kayser on August 30, 1941 in the Christ Episcopal Church, Totowa Borough, New Jersey. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple on July 7, 1973. He attended schools in Paterson, New Jersey. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy as Carpenters Mate 2nd Class aboard the USS Matanikau in the South Pacific and CASU 15 in New Hebredes Islands. He was employed as General Manager for Barbizon Corporation for 47 years, beginning in the carpentry shop, then working his way up to managing plants in Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Florida. He was a past commander of VFW Post #10104 in Totowa Bourough, New Jersey and of the American Legion Post #108 in Singac, New Jersey. David volunteered his time by serving at local hospitals. David was a ham radio operator. He enjoyed motorcycles and animals. He especially loved his neighbors and ward members. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served willingly as High Priest Group First Assistant, Stake Clerk, and in the Bishopric as Ward Clerk. He was also a Primary Teacher and Home Teacher. David is survived by his wife, Erna, of Spanish Fork; and one brother, Norman Kerr, of Totowa Borough, New Jersey. David and Erna had no children, so they called the ward members in the different wards they lived in, their family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Edward T. Kerr. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Spanish Fork 11th Ward Chapel, 505 East 900 North. Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Family Mortuary, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, and on Wednesday, at the church, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion. Condolences may be sent to www.walkerfamilymortuaries.com.
