David Welker Obituary
1947 - 2014
David Joseph Welker, 67, of Salt Lake City, Utah passed from this earth in the early morning hours on May 8, 2014 after a four week courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born and raised in Belleville, Illinois, the son of Edward and Viola Welker. He attended Signal Hill and Belleville Township High School and later attended SIU University. He excelled in sports and music, specializing in the trumpet.
David was married to Judith Rine for 24 years and had three daughters together. Michelle (Brett) Newland, Jessica Welker and Erin Graham. They later divorced. He married Ann Newton on June 8, 1996 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ann had two daughters, Kristin (Ben) Welch and Asia (Cole) Cummings that he raised for 20 years.
David is survived by his wife, daughters and 9 grandchildren; Braedon, Annika, Adrian, Benjamin, Holden, Karmen, Greyson, Jeffrey and Lilly and many friends and family. Preceded in death by his parents and daughter Jessica.
Services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in the Holladay 24th Ward Chapel, (4395 South Albright Drive (2145 E.) in Salt Lake City. Feel free to dress comfortably. David loved bright colors. There will be a visitation held Friday, May 30, 2014 from 6 to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, from 10:30 to 11:45 AM prior to the service. Following the service there will be a celebration of life at the Welker home (2216 E. Lauri Kay Dr. (4410 S.). Condolences can be shared with David's family at www.larkinmortuary.com.

Dave was a great guy. I went through high school with him and played music with him. My prayers go out to his loved ones knowing that he is in the House of The Lord and at peace.

Dave has always been a bright ray of sunshine in our lives! He was so positive about life and love for others. I will cherish the wonderful memories of Dave, whether it was talking about the Cardinals(we attended the same game in 2012), his place at Flaming Gorge, his dogs, music and so much more. We love you Ann and your family. May God bless you with peace and comfort.

I went to grade school at Signal Hill for 3 years with Dave. We played baseball together at BTHS and he was always a good friend. We drifted apart after college but I had seen posts on the reunion pages. God Bless You and your family.

Dave was like a big brother to me during my first two years at SIU. Although we completely lost contact with each other, he had a lasting effect on my life. I was so shocked when I read his obituary. My thoughts and prayers to Dave's family. RIP, brother!
