David Wilkinson Obituary

David Evan Wilkinson

1939~2024

Murray-David Evan Wilkinson "Pinky" (85) passed away on September 28, 2024, surrounded by family. Pinky was the son of Ernest and Edith Wilkinson. He grew up in East Millcreek area. Pinky was in the first graduating class at Olympus High School in 1955.

He married Carol McEwan in June 1962. His first daughter Wendy was born in 1963, and another daughter Angelia was born in 1967, and they put a twinkle in his eye.

He was a super supporter during his granddaughter McKayla's soccer career.

Pinky worked for over 38 years for UDOT. He was also a ski instructor at Brighton. He was an avid golfer, loved to hunt and was pretty good with a fishing rod.

He loved people and you couldn't go anywhere without him knowing someone or someone knowing his name. He was the most loyal friend that anyone could ask for. One of the most popular guys we knew.

Proceed in death his parents, brother Doug and sister Patsy. He is survived by his siblings: Sherry (Al), Rex (Shelly), Kim (Chuck), Vickie (Brian). His daughters Wendy and Angie (Ty) and grandchildren: McKayla, Garrett and Bridger and Great Granddaughter Oakley. He also had many nieces and nephews that he loved very much. He will always be loved and remembered by so many.

I had the pleasure of working with Pinky one summer on the I-215 project in the 1970s. One of the nicest guys I've ever met.

I loved Pinky!!! He was so caring and loving.
He came in my dad’s cafe, pretty much everyday. (Goodwin’s Lehi Cafe) He always had a smile on his face. I never ever in all the years I knew him, heard him say a bad word about anyone.
What a wonderful man!!! He will be missed.
My prayers go out to his family.

Pinky was a very good man. He was always friendly. He was always supportive to his daughters and his granddaughter. He and Carol remained friends until she passed. Funny thing about Pinky is he was always in search of the perfect ride for him lol. He had many friends and that's a sign of a good person. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Pinky was a Tri City Golf Course regular and a loyal friend to JET. After Jimmy’s eyesight dimmed, he drove Jimmy to PGA events, doctor appointments, Oregon and California, hunting in Fruitland, and kept in touch with all his golf friends. It was always a joy to visit on the phone or go to lunch with him because he always took an interest in our family, activities, and friends. We never lacked laughter or conversation. He will be missed.
