Donald Lee (Docky)Dockstader 1933 ~ 2003 Donald Lee Dockstader passed away June 28, 2003 at his home. Docky was born July 14, 1933 in North Hoolywood, CA. He lived his life in Salt Lake City; graduated from West High School; attended the University of Utah; and served in the U.S. Army. He was a great athlete. He was a cheerleader, gymnast, baseball player, and boxer, but his greatest passion was golf. Docky was a golf professional for many years and instrumental in the design and development of Westland Hills Country Club, now Glenmoor Golf Course. He was proud of his nine holes-in-one. In later years he was owner-operator of Docky's Sports Club. Survivors include wife, Bonnie Rae; son, Park (Kim); daughter, Danica (Elias); granddaughter, Erin; sister, Jo Miller (Bob); numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. His many loves include his dogs, a close circle of friends and especially his loving family. We will love and miss him always. Memorial services will be Wed. July 2, 2003, 6 p.m. Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State, Murray where family and friends may call Wed. 5-6 p.m. prior to the service.

I also knew Docky briefly at The Golf Card. He was a fun loving, happy guy who could make me laugh at the drop of a hat. I am glad to have known him. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

It was a miserable-stormy day during the Central Utah Amateur held at the Alpine CC in American Fork, Utah. This was my first introduction to Docky. When he walked up and introduced himself I wondered to myself, "OH BOY". But as the day wore on I found that this little guy could really play. When we reach about 15 it began to snow and turned cold--Docky said, " Would you like some anti-freeze to warm you up ?" I said, "Of course", so we found a cozy place under the quakeies and started to destroy the bottle of Scotch he had in his bag--from that moment on, Docky and I became fast friends that lasted a lifetime.....That was in 1960..I could go on and on with stories about our relationship, but I don't want to bore the people reading this--Bonnie and Park know how close we were. I'm sorry I can't attend the service, but Docky-Bonnie and Park know our hearts are there. We will miss him and we send all our love. Keith and Susie

I worked with Docky at Golf Card for only a short time, but it was as if I knew him a lifetime. He was a wonderful person as a co-worker and as a friend. After Golf Card, I would see him often at his club, at an occasional birthday party and once in a while at the Cottonwood Mall - everytime he was the cheerful, energetic Docky that made you feel good about life. He will be missed.
