Donna Prudence Obituary

Donna Prudence

1946 - 2023

Los Altos Hills, CA-Donna Marie Prudence, age 76, passed away on August 14, 2023, in the presence of her husband Paul at their home in Los Altos Hills, CA. After a courageous battle she succumbed to chronic health issues stemming from Lyme disease. Donna was born on October 24, 1946, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Lawrence and Geraldine "Gerry" McQuade, whom she now joins in heaven. Donna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Donna graduated from West High School in 1965. She married Paul on January 21, 1966 and a year later Donna and Paul moved to California to open the Palo Alto Kentucky Fried Chicken. They became pillars of the community, and Donna formed close connections with many of their regular customers over the course of 34 years. In recognition of their contributions, Donna was inducted into the Harman Hall of Fame upon their retirement in 2001.

Donna was known for her social and friendly nature. She treated everyone she met like close family and had a special way of making people feel welcome. Her pride and joy were her family, and she cherished her roles as a mother and grandmother. Donna was a hard worker and remained busy even after retirement.

In her free time, Donna enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends and family, whether in person or on the phone. She found joy in maintaining these connections and cherished the moments spent with loved ones.

A private memorial service will be held to scatter Donna's ashes in Half Moon Bay, CA, honoring her life and the impact she had on those around her.

Donna Prudence is survived by her loving husband, Paul Prudence, in Los Altos Hills, CA; her sons, Timothy Prudence in Welches, Oregon, and Benjamin Prudence in Mountain View, CA; her daughter, Jessica Prudence in Sunnyvale, CA; her brothers, James McQuade in Sacramento, CA, and Lawrence McQuade in West Valley, UT; her sister, Kathy McQuade-Griggers in Bullhead City, AZ; her niece, Jamie McQuade in Steamboat Springs, CO; and her grandchildren, Mason, Maddox, and Camille Prudence, all residing in Welches, OR.

Donna Marie Prudence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories she leaves behind.

Donna was a special lady. She recruited me to join Harmans in 1981. I was a customer and she asked me what I did for a living. She mentioned the opportunities with Harmans and the rest is history. Thank you Donna for making my life better. My sincere condolences to the Prudence family. Love Steve & Kathy Sherwood
