Douglas Haymond Obituary

Douglas J. Haymond

1967 ~ 2021

Doug passed away peacefully in his home on May 30, 2021.

He was born August 8, 1967 in Salt Lake City, UT to Ronald and Kaye Haymond. Doug attended school in Murray, UT and at the University of Utah. He was a man who had many hobbies and interests. Writing poetry and songs, watching nature shows, fishing, golfing, skiing, camping, hockey, baseball, every animal he came across, U2, and his Utah UTES. Doug was always on the go and trying to soak up any knowledge he could. I think anyone would have a hard time beating him at trivia.

He loved all things music and could literally name that tune in two notes. He would get annoyed when he had a song stuck in his head for days (usually placed there by one of his sons). One of his fondest memories is the time he spent with his band members. He made many friends in his life, ones he carried with him through the years.

He never missed a daily phone call with his mom, cried at every movie, and when he needed peace and stillness you could always find him sitting on the front porch of his family's cabin with his boys and sister.

While here he lived life to the fullest. He had many passions and many loves, but there was none more so then his boys Noah and Joshua. He was so proud of them and all their accomplishments, and he went to every game and school event which always brought him to tears. He had strong morals and values that he passed on to his sons making them the men they are today by teaching them how to do things the right way and how not to do them. He was the most loved and loving man you could ever meet. The empathy he felt for others was far and wide. His emotions were strong and ran deep, they came through in words to paper when he was writing songs and poetry. He will be missed by so many. And always loved.

He is preceded in death by his father Ron Haymond and stepfather Felix McGowan. He is survived by his sons Noah Haymond Midvale UT, Joshua Haymond Midvale UT, mother Kaye Haymond Holladay UT, sister Shellie (Debbie) Haymond Holladay UT, brothers Scott McGowan Austin TX, Peter Bigelow Holladay UT, Great Nephews Rayden and Carter Warenski Herriman UT

The next time you take a walk in the woods, or wade in a creek, think of him fondly.

A celebration of Doug's life will be on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Starks Funeral Parlor, 3651 South 900 East, Salt Lake City. There will never be another Doug Haymond. One of a kind and genuine. Biggest heart you have ever met. Doug should have been a comedian. That was his true calling. You will be missed my friend.
