Douglas Seitz Obituary

Douglas Gregory Seitz

1967-2022

Seitz, Douglas Gregory, 55, of Midvale, Utah formerly of River Vale, New Jersey passed away from cardiac arrest due to an underlying heart condition. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and MaryEllen Seitz.

Greg (also known as Doug in Utah) had a special sensitivity and ability to love deeply; witnessed by the way he shared his home with his mom and lovingly took care of her until her passing. He had all the qualities one could ever hope for in a son, brother, uncle, and friend. His vibrant blue eyes, infectious laugh, and authentic presence could light up a room.

After graduating from Pascack Valley High School, Greg made his way to Breckenridge, Colorado where he spent many years as a ski instructor. He fell in love with the Wasatch Mountains while visiting his sister in Utah and later made his home there. He worked in construction for many years until joining Thatcher Company in Salt Lake City in 2012 as a plant operator.

Greg had a love and appreciation for music, fishing, skiing, gardening, birds, dogs, wrenching and woodworking. He was proud of the workshop he built and spent most of his free time there creating, repurposing and building things out of any material he could find. He also enjoyed his Koi pond and named each Koi after his niece and nephews. Greg cultivated genuine relationships and cherished the times he spent playing guitar and spending time with his friends.

Greg is survived by his adoring sisters, Susan Manos and her husband Ron Trudel of Midvale, Utah, Nancy Seitz and her husband Gary McDonald of River Vale, New Jersey and his loving niece and nephews Maddi Manos, Philip Manos and his wife Justine, Michael Manos and his fiancée Julie, Kyle McDonald, Daniel McDonald and grandnephew Apollo Manos. Greg is also survived by his uncle Richard W. Stockton, III and his wife Barbara of Vero Beach, Florida, and cousins Rick, Sallie, and Bob. Sincere gratitude to Will and Linda Roos who were like family to Greg.

To know Greg was to love him. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Rest in Peace our dear brother, uncle, and friend.

"A box of rain will ease the pain and love will see you through." Philip Lesh / Robert C. Hunter

Doug and I were friends when I first moved to Utah. Our times in front of a campfire listening to Grateful Dead are some of my most cherished. A generous and gentle soul. -if I knew the way, I would take you home.
