Eric Wimmer Obituary

Eric J. Wimmer 1970 ~ 2007 Beloved son, repentant sinner, lover of Jesus Christ and an American patriot, Eric Joseph Wimmer, 37, passed away Dec. 5, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer.Born May 6, 1970 in Granger, Utah, son of Elwood Walter and Jeanette Warr Wimmer. He loved his pit bull dogs, hunting, the outdoors and was proud of his service in the US Army during the Gulf War. He is survived by his daughter, Chelsie; son, Sheridan; parents; siblings: Mark (Lydia), Steffanie, Paul (Shannon), Carl (Sherry), Ryan (Mindy); grandmother, Evelyn Hilden; former wife and friend, Theresa Kay Nielsen; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by grandparents, Elwood Wimmer and Ray and Maxine Warr. The family would like to express special thanks to Love Hospice for the care they showed Eric and his family. Funeral services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at the Granger West 4th Ward, 3305 S. 3960 W. A viewing will be held Sunday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S. Redwood Road and Monday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.

Dear Walter and Jeanette and family, I didn't know Eric but really enjoyed your boys Carl and Ryan, when our children were younger. I loved what Carl said when he said " Being a Whimmer boy was special." Raising my 5 boys and watching the closeness they had, I could really feel what he was saying. Even though I didn't know Eric, I know he will be missed and always be loved. Loosing a child for me was the hardest thing I have ever encountered in my whole life. If it wasn't for the love I felt around me I don't think I could of survived. I just wanted to let you know our thoughts and prayer are with you and your family at this time. I would like to share with you a quote someone shared with us when our Perry died. We loved it so much we actually put it on his head stone. I hope it might bring some comfort to you with your loss as it did for us.

I'm so sorry to hear abou your brother. As you know I can relate. It is a very hard thing to go through. The only thing anyone can do is be there for you and comfort you. Ryan my family really appreciated how you came to Perry's funeral. Our family wishes we could be there for your family. We found out late last night. I have a fun memory of your family coming over about 33 years ago and all of us kids climbing on the huge mound of topsoil in our yard, well, it seemed huge at seven years old! I was saddened to here that Eric had passed away! I served as a missionary companion of Eric's in Kingsville Texas and have good memories of serving with Eric. We served for 2 months together and taught the gospel to several families who accepted and joined the church there. I remember his passion for his family, the outdoors and hunting. He even knew old country western songs that we would sing while riding our bikes around Kingsville.

Eric was a great childhood friend of mine, Being in the same LDS ward growing up and attending Jr & high school with him. Many fond memories that we have shared together over the years.
