Esther Taylor Obituary

Esther Harrison Taylor 1922 ~ 2006 Esther Harrison Taylor passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on 15 October 2006 in Salt Lake City following a brief illness. Born 10 April 1922 to Heber Eldredge and Lettie May Nelson Harrison in Cedar City, Utah. Esther was raised in New Castle, Utah along with her nine siblings. She attended school in Cedar City, Payson and later in Salt Lake. She married her high school sweetheart, Grant Ross Taylor, 11 September 1940, who preceded her in death on 26 September 1984. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. During World War II they lived in Huntington Beach, California. While Grant served in the Coast Guard, Esther worked for The B. F. Goodrich Company assembling aviation deicers to help in the war effort. They later lived in Port Angeles, WA, Provo, UT, Ft. Collins, CO, Bryce Canyon, UT and Orange, CA. They lived for a time in San Francisco, where she was employed as secretary to the division manager of Crown Cork and Seal Company. In 1956 they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she participated in opening and operating Grant's dental practice. She attended the University of Utah and was a member of the Salt Lake board of Realtors. "Ross and Esther" were a great team. They were disciplined and goal oriented parents and partners in business. Esther loved a project. Her children have fond memories of "whitrocks", "flatrocks" and "Varmor" at the family cabin. She had an uncanny business savvy and knack for making things happen. Esther was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in all of the auxiliaries of the church and for a number of years in the 28th Ward she blessed the lives of many people as Relief Society President. Her family was her world. Family vacations together, birthdays, Christmas and summer picnics. She loved sharing the joy of their talents and accomplishments, their participation in church and school activities. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her children, Darlene Taylor Jenkins, Darron and Wendy Taylor, Mark and Mary Jane Taylor, 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 20th, 2006 at the Holladay 28th Ward meetinghouse on 2625 E. Milo Way (4910 S.), where friends may call from 10:45 to 11:45 prior to the service. Friends may also call from 6:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Dear Darlene,

I was sorry to learn of the death of your mother. She was beautiful, just like you; those large eyes, that great smile. She
contributed to your beauty, I am sure.

When our parent dies it leaves such an empty feeling, no matter their age, or our own age. I think of my own mother every day, even though she died in l997, 9 years ago this October 16.

You are going through a difficult time and no one knows till they go through it. I am thinking of you; hoping you have support throughout this difficult time.

I may be able to attend the funeral.

I thought the write-up was very special.

Warm thoughts of you, Darlene.
