Floyd Hancock Obituary

Floyd Hancock "Papa" Floyd J. Hancock returned to live with his long awaited wife and son on Monday May 5th, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Papa was born on November 4, 1913 to Jeremiah and May Carson Hancock. He married Leone Jensen in 1934 and in 1935 they became the proud parents of Floyd Jay Hancock, their only child who gave him eight grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. As a young man, Papa worked for Hancock Produce and later retired from Westinghouse with over 35 years of service. He was a member of the LDS Church and had a strong work ethic, which he passed on to this son. Papa loved to fish, hunt, camp, go ballroom dancing, and have coffee with his friends at Dee's. Throughout his life he had many dogs named Spot, and many birds named Sweet Sweet. Papa is survived by his compassionate daughter-in-law, Janis Hancock, brother, Grant Hancock, grandchildren, Gary Hancock, Tamra (Mike) Nuzzolo, Stephanie (Brent) Stephens, Stephen Hancock, Michael (Lisa) Hancock, Scott (Kathleen) Hancock, Heidi (Wade) Atkinson, and Holly (Jeff) Hawkins, 28 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leone, son, Floyd Jay, brothers, Jerry and Ether, and sisters, Peggy and Leah. A graveside service will be held at the Salt Lake City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9th, 2008 under the direction of Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary. Special thanks to Jonathan Nuzzolo for the loving care he gave to his great-grandfather.

We are so sorry to hear of Uncle Floyd's passing. It was so good to see and visit with him when we were in Utah this past October.

Dear Hancock family,
My father was Ken Hanocck a first cousin of Floyd's. Floyd and Tamra visited my home and it was a privilege to know him. He was a very sweet man who had the voice of my father and looked somewhat like him. I spoke with him on the phone several times and really enjoyed those calls. I had been looking for information on Hancock Brothers and a history of Uncle Jerry. Floyd, Grant and Shari gave me the histories of your side of the family, Just wanted to say how thankful I was to have know Floyd. All my sympathy to your family.
