Floyd Snyder Obituary

Oct. 10, 1931 ~ May 27, 2016
Floyd Fullmer Snyder born October 10th, 1931 passed away May 27th, 2016 in Salt Lake City, UT at the age of 84.
Floyd was the son of Raymond Wilford Snyder and Janey Lanward. He was the third child in a family of five, Raymond (deceased), Betty, Dolly (deceased) and Jay. He had fond memories of being raised in Salt Lake City and helping his dad on a family dairy. In fact dad could recite the address to the home he grew up in until the day before he passed away.
"Snyder" as he was called in his younger years made his living as a long-haul truck driver for IML and later other freight companies. He provided a good life to his family with many fun adventures and activities, including summer trips water skiing at Lake Powel, snowmobiling in the mountains of Utah, and exploring Canyonlands and Indian ruins across the states. Later in life he enjoyed trips with his grandchildren looking for unique rocks, riding trains, and site seeing in many locations.
Dad was married to Opal M. Salyer (later divorced) and together they raised two daughters, Shelly & Kelli. He was also step-father to Nikki Calder (Steve) & Vince Adler (both deceased).
Dad married Carolyn Jean Cumberland on December 22, 1988 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Dad helped Carolyn raise her daughter Holly and was a positive influence in her life as well as Carolyn's son, James Christensen. He also loved and was a big part of the lives of his seven grandchildren from this union. His grandchildren remember their grandpa reading stories to them at night. Dad and Carolyn lovingly referred to each other as Grandma & Grandpa.
In the end Dad passed on this little bit of wisdom, "you get old really fast, and smart really slow". What matters most is that dad was loved and loved back! "Faith, hope, and love, the greatest of these is love" 1 Corinthians 13:13.
Floyd F. Snyder is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughters, Shelly Blair (Dennis), Kelli Thomas (Denny), Holly Cutler, and son James Christensen, fourteen grandchildren, Tawna, Steve, Robert, Tiffany, Tyler, Raelyn, Nikki, Daymon, Destani, Logan, Locklan, Miah, Reyden, Ashlynne, and ten great-grandchildren.
A private immediate family viewing will be held June 2nd from 3:00 to 5:00pm at Utah Simple Cremations.
A graveside service will be held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery on June 3rd at 2:00pm. Family & friends are welcome to come and honor the memory of our husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

We have many great memories of Snyder and Opal on the trips to Lake Powell, him teaching our kids to water ski, Christmas Eve parties and allowing us to be a part of the family for all these years. He will be greatly missed by all of us.
