Gary Rich Obituary
Our brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Gary, passed away at the age of 70 on April, 24th. Gary was born August 15, 1944 in Salt Lake City, to Ivan Joy and Ruth Holder Rich.
Gary was an accomplished artist and comedian who could draw a cartoon and come up with a caption that would make us all laugh. He graduated from South High School, served in the National Guard and retired from Kennecott Utah Copper.
He is survived by siblings: Carol Shaw (sister), Jean Rushton (sister), David Rich (brother) and Jane Rich (sister). From his first marriage to Jean Hoskins, he fathered Cindy Rich Miller (daughter) and Jeff John Rich (son). His second marriage was to Margie Rolfe. From his third marriage to Tracy Anderson (divorced), he raised Melissa Knight (step-daughter). He also has 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Jordan 13th Ward Stake Center at 3676 West 4700 South, West Valley City. Gary will be laid to rest in the Brigham City Cemetery beside his parents and brother Richard "Dickie" Rich.

Miss u everyday, since u have been gone things have been tough. But Marc and I are united as one and slowly but surely making our way to have a life in which u would be proud of. My condolences to the Rich family. I worked with Gary at the smelter for a number of years, he was a good man and a good friend.
He belonged to a fund witch he paid a monthly dues. The fund gives his beneficiary a death benefit. If the executor of his estate will contact me I can give them information to receive the benefit (I am the treasure of the fund).

My uncle Johnny was a amazing man. So loving, caring, understanding and fun. He always had us laughing. When I was a child we would go bowling and breakfast every Sunday and it was ALWAYS sooo much fun!!! We spent A LOT of time with my dear uncle and his family.. I dont have one bad memory of my uncle and he will be dearly missed! WE ALL LOVE U JOHNNY AND I PRAY YOUR IN A BETTER PLACE BECAUSE YOU DESERVE THE VERY BEST! XOXO

It seems, when we want to relay the loss of someone so revered, we say "It's Like The End Of An Era" Such is the same with you John, I half expect you to walk through the door, any door and say "Well Hello There" On the day you passed though, you did walk through a door, "Gods Door" Your talents and humor were well respected. After Twenty Years, we had many good times on the best of Holidays. We will miss you for the rest of our days. And we are thankful that we had the time with you through out these years, sharing the love union of A Daughter Melissa and A Son Marc. And Three Beautiful Grandchildren together. So amazing to think you had a Brother Dickie, and we lost a Son named Dickie what an AMAZING coincidence. Just one of the many things that brought our Family together. We loved you Mark-Clara Blackburn. Rest In Peace My Friend.

We are exceedingly sorry to hear about Gary's demise..
I grew up next door to Gary. I have numerous fond memories of our childhood, with Gary, Jane and Carol. we played all kinds of games, "hung out", went fishing, rabbit hunting, leaned to drive together even roller skated in each others basements. In our later teen years we even double dated together.
Although we lost touch after I went in the Army and later married, His name often come up whenever conversation came up about the old neighborhood. He had many friends in that neighborhood that are surly saddened by his death.
My wife and I are in Virginia visiting my son and his family therefor unfortunately will be unable to attend the funeral. Our prayers and thoughts will be with Gary and all of his family.
May Gary rest in peace with his creator.
