Gary Summer Obituary

Gary Timothy Summer 1945 ~ 2008 Gary Timothy Summer our beloved father, grandfather and friend left this earth peacefully on Saturday the 6th of December, with his daughters at his side and his sons waiting for him on the other side.Gary was born on January 20, 1945 to Leonard W. Sr. and Myrtle Mary Summer in Harriman, Tennessee, the youngest of nine children. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching as much as participating. Travel was always a pleasure and priority for dad with Hawaii at the top of the list. The grocery industry was his professional paradise for over 40 years where lifetime friendships were forged. Dad is survived by three older sisters, two daughters, Patricia Anne Pester and Suzanne Elizabeth Summer and four grandchildren, Keisha, Joshua, Davian and Peyton. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings and his infant twin sons, Thomas Andrew and Timothy Aaron Summer. We are forever grateful to the staff of Draper Care & Rehabilitation Center for the tender way they nurtured our father in his final months. Cremation will precede a memorial service to be held Saturday the 13th of December 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Londonderry Chapel, 11164 South Londonderry Drive (1520 East) Sandy, Utah. In lieu of flowers please send donations in care of Gary Summer to Draper Rehabilitation Center, 12702 South Fort Street, Draper, Utah 84020 to help offset his medical expenses.

Dearest Suzi and Patty,
Even though I had know Gary for a short time and met him under less than perfect conditions, I felt a deep and strong bond with him. His happy and comical personality shined thru his hardships and defined his personality. I developed very special friendship with him and will cherish my time with him forever. He made me smile and laugh and together we harrased quite a few people. He was my partner in crime for a short time and I looked forward to every visit I had with him. I am truly sorry for both of your loss. Gary brought laughter, smiles and warmth to all that he met and he will continue to do the same as his merry and radiant energy is still among us. I am here for you always.

Dear Patty & Family,

Having recently lost my own dad, I truly empathize with your loss. Take as much comfort as possible from the knowledge he is now freed from his disabled body and is enjoying a wonderful reunion with those that preceded him through the veil.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Shari

Dear Patty and Susie, as you know we loved your Dad very much and considered him one of our best friends for all the years we knew him. He was such a happy person when he was well and had more jokes than anyone else we ever knew. Please except our condolences and love at this time and please know that we celebrate his life, but also his passing which at the end was such a blessing.

See you both soon, Bill and Pat

Dear Suzie and Patty. I was so shocked to see that your dear father had passed away. Please know that my prayers and thoughts go to you and your families at this time of sorrow. He was such a great father and friend to so many people. I enjoyed my association with Gary over the years in the grocery business and considered him a great friend. Always keep him in your heart and all the good memories that you shared with him as he was a good father and friend.
