Geneve Quist Obituary

Geneve GoldQuist 6/4/16 ~ 12/27/02   BOUNTIFUL, UT - Geneve Gold Quist, 86, died of complications related to aging Friday, Dec 27, 2002, in Clinton, UT at the home of her daughter, Carma Hart Fuller. Geneve was born June 4, 1916 in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Cyrus William Gold and Annie Peck Gold. Geneve was the seventh of 15 siblings, with whom she had a close bond all of her life. Her mother, Annie, died when Geneve was four years old and she was raised by a loving stepmother, Edith Benfell "Mother Edith." Geneve married Carl Lowell Quist in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Oct 1, 1936. They are the parents of Beth (Jay) Beek, Bountiful, Carma (Jess) Fuller, Clinton, Madeline Thimmes, Logan, Ross (Marsha) Quist, Kaysville, and Craig (Mary) Quist, Layton. They have 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and lived in Bountiful for nearly 50 years in the home they built. Geneve worked for 30 years for the Davis County School District. She had many interests that she shared with Carl including square dancing, socializing with the 'EGGS,' and entertaining numerous groups in their home. The Christmas holiday season was an especially joyous and busy time of food and fun in the Quist household. Geneve was an excellent cook, set a lovely table, created beautiful hand work and canned much produce from her garden, raspberry bushes and fruit trees. Geneve was an example of thrift, industry and a positive outlook. These were attributes she taught her children and grandchildren. Geneve came from pioneer stock who resided in Kirtland, OH, Nauvoo, IL, and settled in Salt Lake City, UT. Her family loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and she exemplified this devotion. Geneve willingly accepted many assignments in her LDS ward and cherished her involvement in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers (DUP). Reading church books was her love. She is survived by her children; sisters, Josephine Knudsen, Salt Lake City, Gladys (John) Van de Merwe, Bountiful, Barbara (Keith) Russell, Leftie (Len) Foote, both Mesa, AZ; and brothers, Milton (Linnie) Gold, Kanab, Joel Peck (Roma) Gold, Centerville, Wayne (Ila) Gold, Mesa, AZ, Stanley (Lynn) Gold, Walnut Creek, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, stepmother, sis-ters, Lucille Oliphant, Verniece Rosenvall, Ardelia Jensen, and brothers, Cyrus Gold, Everett Van Gold, Conway Gold. We know that our mother is now where she wants to be... reunited with our father. Services will be Tues. Dec 31, 2002 11 a.m. Bountiful 91st Ward Chapel, 585 E. Center St, Bountiful. Friends may call at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main St, Bountiful 6-8 p.m. Mon. Dec 30, and Tues. at the chapel 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Lakeview Cemetery, Bountiful.
