George J. Angerbauer was born in Salt lake City, Utah to George E. and Mary G. Angerbauer on September 21, 1918. He was the oldest of 4 children. He met his future wife Geraldine (Gerry) in the library at the University of Utah. After returning home from a mission to Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he and Gerry were married and shortly thereafter moved to Sacramento, then San Francisco, and then Millbrae, California where they bought their first home. Their three children were born there: Bonnie, Jeri Ann, and Rick. George was called to be a bishop at 29 years of age. George's favorite things to do were building, teaching, and traveling...and anything to do with his children. Although he never graduated from college, he became a professor of electronics teaching at the College of San Mateo. In his spare time he wrote two books on electronics. In the rest of his spare time he would buy run down houses and fix them up to rent out. In the balance of his spare time he would help his kids, and others, with any projects that they had. He was a person who could never just sit and do nothing. He always had several projects in the works. At around 70 years of age, he and Gerry began traveling out of the country - something that they did for the next 15 years. He always said that they wondered why they had waited so long to do that. He truly felt that his greatest work was within the walls of his own home. Well, that would also include the front and the back yards of the house too. He so much enjoyed the happiness that it brought to his wife to see all the flowers in the back yard, even when she could only see them from just the reflection on the TV screen, when she was no longer mobile. We are grateful that he was able to do what he loved, for so long, with those that he loved. The last two years were especially hard on George, because he still hadn't learned how to slow down or to relax. Even at 94 years old, he would often ask "what should I be doing?"
He was preceded in death by his wife Gerry and his daughter Bonnie. He is survived by his daughter Jeri Ann and his son Rick, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Online condolences to www.larkincares.com.
