To my long-time friend Monta:
You and I were once co-workers at First Security. I'm so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I was on vacation during the week of his funeral. I'm sorry I missed it as I would have loved to have seen you. I know your faith in Jesus and the comfort of His love He is surrounding you with. Please contact me. My prayers go out to you, Terry and your boys.

To the Merrill Family:
I was so sorry to hear about your Dad George, I was out of town and not able to attend his service. Growing up in Garfield my family, the Bailey's lived next door to the Merrill's, my brother
Gene and George was the same age and did many things together, I also remember Cookie and Gwen they were pretty and popular girls! I also remember your darling Mother Gladys, they were a cute couple, and it is sad that they are all gone, and I just wanted to extend my deepest sympathy to each of you.

My Dear Merrill Friends,
I'm so sorry to learn that your Dad passed away. I have so many fond memories of growing up with your family across the street, and your parents are part of that, as well as your grandparents. I'm so sorry I didn't check my email sooner, as I would have liked to attend the funeral service. I remember your Dad with a big smile on his face, and a contagious laugh, always kind to all of us neighbor kid's. I will be sure to let my parents know. You're thought of with love and our sympathy.
Much love to all of you, Cindy Bracken Garvin

To George's family.
My sincere sympathy to each of you upon the loss of your father. Both George and Gladys were classmates of mine of whom I have fond memories. George's parents were long time friends of my parents through their collegiate years and during their adult lives in Magna and Garfield. Red and my dad, Weldon Matthews were football stars at BYU (much attested to by numerous articles in the sports sections of the SL Tribune and Telegram, and the Deseret News. The two couples double dated in college, and were active together in community affairs as they raised their families. My mother, Melba Matthews, spoke at her dear friend Dot's funeral. You may remember.
George and I dated a few times in high school, but of course Gladys swept him off his feet - - - they were such a delightful couple!
I knew Gwen and Cookie - - - two beautiful girls! When Gladys and I were part of the Kennecott "royalty" in 1954, Cookie helped us make the umbrellas that matched the gowns we wore on the float for the four parades we were in.
My husband, Art, and I will be making a donation to the Loel T. Hepworth Memorial Scholarship at the U of U School of Music, in loving memory of George and Gladys.
May you be comforted by each other and the wonderful memories you have of your parents and grand-parents Merrill.
Sincerely, Connie Jo M. Hepworth-Woolston
