GEORGE PACE Obituary

George LaMar Pace 1931 ~ 2010 Our dear father, grandfather, papa and friend peacefully returned to his Heavenly Father and Nana on Friday October 1, 2010 in Hoytsville surrounded by his family.LaMar was born on January 27, 1931 in Hoytsville, Utah, the son of George Edward and Grace Mills Pace. He graduated from North Summit High School where he participated in various sports. He was the Valedictorian of his class. He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Blonquist on September 1, 1950 in the Logan Temple. He worked full time at Browns, welding stainless steel milk tanks while investing in the family dairy farm and range with his brother Gary. He later added cattle and sheep to the farm. In 1980, he acquired the farm in Stone, Idaho where he made many special friends. He served on the following committees: Summit County Planning Commission and Board of Adjustments, Kamas Valley Co-op, Summit Wasatch D.H.I.A. and served as President of the West Hoytsville Range Company for numerous years. He initiated and continued the Summit County Lamb Pool. Farming was his life. He was talented at repairing, welding and maintaining the farm equipment. He was our "Fix It" man. He was always looking for ways to improve farming techniques. Over the last few years, his primary mode of transportation was his beloved 4-wheeler. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. For years, he provided a fish pond for his family to enjoy. He liked to feed or eat the fish, but not the time to catch them. He loved watching his posterity in their activities and sports. He also enjoyed refereeing basketball games with friends. He was a faithful member of the Hoytsville L.D.S. Church where he held various callings. He is survived by his children: Jerry (Karen) Pace, Kerry (Deanna) Pace, Trina (Kenny) Mitchell, Max (Donna) Pace, and Milleson (Darren) Gibbs; 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings: JoAnn Peterson, Gary Pace, Marvin Pace and Nola Gertch. He was preceded in death by his loving companion and parents. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 5 at noon at the Hoytsville Ward Chapel. Friends and family may call at the church Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Interment, Hoytsville Cemetery. A special thanks to Alpine Hospice, Coalville Health Center, Toole and Associates, Aspen Ridge, and the U of U Hospital for their love and concern for our dad over the past four years. My heart goes out in fond memories of La Mar. I played with him on the sport teams at North Summit. La Mar was honest and of the highest character. He put forth his best in sports and life. It was on honor to be part of La Mar life at North Summit High School.
